MagicGuy 0 #26 January 12, 2007 For the price of a new main flap, it's worth it to just get it replaced. No sense in risking damaging the container or canopies for a quarter size scuff. Thanks for all the help guys. Edit: I called Wings today and the price of a new midflap, including labor, is only $85. Not a bad deal!

dorbie 0 #28 January 13, 2007 Quote Why won't riggers pack it? Where is the logic behind that? I'm not trying to be arguementative, I'm just curious. I would like to know. It's a dirty big question mark over the airworthiness. Rigs are tested ad nauseum and meet stringent requirements in addition to being fielded in large numbers for years. Adding copious quantities of some random chemical mix means anything might happen. There have been historical instances of combinations of materials causing damage. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=search_results&search_forum=all&search_string=acid%20mesh&sb=score&mh=25 Dicking with one rig with a random chemical mix including solvents is potentially a lot worse than you are assuming. Do not do this, it really isn't OK, it's your life on the line or in this case the life of someone you posted to on the internet. Unaltered main flaps on good rigs with great reputations have contributed to fatalities, it really doesn't need an arts & crafts project added.
