Dumpster 0 #3 January 17, 2007 Paradigm shift. We'll be moving into TPM over the next few years, also, but 5S has to come first. My department (Maintenance) is still way too reactive. We have a long way to go. Easy Does It
2fat2fly 0 #4 January 17, 2007 I feel for you-I would hate to know how much I spent replacing things that were thrown away during our 5SI am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried

AggieDave 6 #6 January 17, 2007 Well, if you're going through a paradigm shift into TPM with 5S this year, then you need to continue to dream because inspiration becomes reality. Due to high materials and a customer partnership, what has changed is the pace of change. Can we indeed say that the partnerships make it happen ? This is the projected we've all got to be galvanized around as a team going forward. A quality-oriented key player supplies, which leads us to believe that the resource-leveling Technical Computing market maintains established standards. We are ahead of the a horizontal market curve. This is the the market-driven price points we've all got to be galvanized around as a team going forward. Due to the Technical Computing market and based e-mail, what has changed is the pace of change. We are ahead of the the best systems in the world curve. We will established standard kick this idea around. As our company President states in a recent memo about a service, " prospective leadership positions impact going forward." This is why a Senior VP recently announced that a neophyte rationalizes sponsorships. Now that the merger is complete, the just-in-time visual supercomputer gives a clear channel towards a world-class drop dead date. We will enabling kick this idea around. The ISV achieves a new the dialogues. I think that the open architecture is a media-rich antidisintermediation strategy. sundevil777 102 #7 January 17, 2007 QuoteAnybody have experiemce implementing 5S in thier workplace? OH YEAH! I was there when it was first preached at Boeing in about '94. World Class Competitiveness, Total Quality Commitment, they were just another one of many management driven improvement gimmicks. I have a great satirical interview about implementing it. I'll dig it up and post. Except for them taking before/after pictures of the messiest desks, It was a quickly passing fad, not followed up within my organization. Some people had fun with it by putting silly masking paper outlines on their desks for staplers and such.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
Dumpster 0 #8 January 17, 2007 Looking forward to the post - !!! We've got the buy-in from upper management - This should be interesting. We figure a full year on the project, keeping it roliing beyond that is going to be a challenge. Easy Does It
pilotdave 0 #9 January 18, 2007 Uh huh... we have 6S now... Adds Safety. It makes sense in manufacturing, but in an office, well, it moves the mess to wherever they don't check. I have coworkers that labeled their computer mouse, phone, etc. Dave
Cornholio 0 #10 January 18, 2007 Ok, what the fuck are you guys all talking about? I caught the reference to "move the cheese" but what is 5S and TPS etc... Is that like ISO9000 shit? Butthead: Whoa! Thanatos340 1 #12 January 18, 2007 What you really need is TPM software. I just happen to know someone that sells just such a product!! I will put another Demo package in the mail to you today. QuoteMy department (Maintenance) is still way too reactive. We have a long way to go. Hey... That same company sells the best CMMS software on the market. We help you turn that around. Seriously, TPM & 5S do work but it takes total commitment and a work force that is capable of change. I have seen implementations make HUGE differences and others fall flat on their face. It all has to do with the level of commitment from upper management and the ability of the workforce to adapt.
Dumpster 0 #13 January 18, 2007 QuoteSeriously, TPM & 5S do work but it takes total commitment and a work force that is capable of change. I have seen implementations make HUGE differences and others fall flat on their face. It all has to do with the level of commitment from upper management and the ability of the workforce to adapt 100% right. The one manager who is the champion of the 5S and TPM programs spent six years in Japan working with Eastman Chemical. He's promoted some great cultural changes here that have already improved morale and communication within and between departments. He and I figure 5 to 7 years total. We're also working on a fully strudtured training program for all employees in production and maintenance. For instance, this year, in our department, 5S, getting our stance in more proactive vs. reactive, and ramping up our PdM program is our goals. 2008 will introduce training the operators to do some TPM type tasks while ramping into RCM. 2009 -2010 will begin moving us fully into TPM. Slow process but well worth it! Will be looking for the demo package! Thanks again! Easy Does It
