JENNR8R is coming to see me!

Well, we didn't skydive all weekend (didn't even plan to) but we're both going to get our adrenaline rush this morning. The roads are incredible icy and I have to drive her about 30 miles to the airport. YIKES!!! This time a parachute won't do much good[:/]

Well, we got about two miles down the road, didn't even make it out of Canyon Lake before a cop was flagging us all to the side of the road. Then we were informed that the main highway to the airport was shut down. So JEN got to spend another day with me:)

:(:(Jen and I finally had to say goodbye this morning. I'm so glad she got "trapped" in Texas for three extra days.

I'm remembering a line from the theme of The Carol Burnette show..

"I'm so glad we had this time together." I miss her already.

Wow! What a totally out of character thing for me to do. I decided on Saturday morning to take Kathleen up on her invitation to "visit her someday"... I caught a plane on Saturday afternoon.

I was met at the airport by Kathleen and waltappel, who happened to be in town visiting his parents. Walt carried the suitcase to the car and Kathleen and I took off for a tour of the state in the middle of the night. :P

Sunday I went to their church. I couldn't believe the angels that started to sing in that service. It was Kathleen and Mr. Skydivermom. They're good enough to sing professionally. What a privilege it was to worship with them.

Sunday afternoon they took me to a fabulous Chinese buffet. We dropped the kids and "Mr." off at home then went to hang out with Kathleen's Mom. Within two minutes of arrival there were 10 snacks and a cup of tea spread before us. We swapped childbirth stories, a favorite topic of Moms everywhere.

We left for the Austin airport on Monday morning and stopped by waltappel's parents home for a visit before the flight. What sweet and perfectly normal people they were. (I can't figure out why Walt turned out the way he did.) :S My flight was canceled so we went back to Kathleen's home.

Tuesday the roads were closed, and Wednesday the flights were canceled. I finally made it to the San Antonio airport on Thursday and a bit over eleven hours after I left Kathleen's home, I arrived back in Northern Virginia.

While we were stranded I spiked my hair with some red gel, and iced-ramp slid on a plastic doghouse top. (The last time Kathleen and I did a tandem and busted it). :o We watched some movies, played with the critters and the kids, ate too much, yakked for hours on end, and watched the ice cover everything outside with a glistening lace tapestry through her hugh picture windows.

I even saw the road that Lindercles parents live on. :D

What a welcome respite this week has been. Thank you Kathleen for your wonderful hospitality. I wish we lived closer. It's back to the grind tomorrow. [:/]

You are definately more than welcome! It was really way too much fun. Do you know that when I drove home ice was falling from everything. Trees, cars and power lines. When I arrived home, my oak tree was shedding ice like I've never seen.

It seems the great state of Texas missed you as much as I:(

It's more like I took the curse with me. :D Now that I am back home, the forecast is for snow.

I'm starting to get a complex. I visited Georgia in December, and while I was there, they broke their record for cold temperatures. It probably warmed right up after I left. :|
