Any Veterinarians on here??

Recommended Posts

I have a Boxer, she has a sore under her jowls for the last couple weeks thats making her make a funny face. Is there anything I could do to help her or do I need to take her to the vet? I would hate to take her to the vet and they tell me to just put some vaseline or someting on it. Anyone have any ideas?

I'd probably take her to the vet. You never know what it might be. It's a small price to pay to make sure she's okay! She IS your best friend after all! :)
BTW, post a pic. I have a Boxer too (as do a few others on here!)

Hope she's okay!

it never ceases to amaze me how long people wait before looking after their so called "loved pets">:( I have a few friends who are vets and vet nurses, and it's a constant source of aggravation for them.

Take your dog to the Vet>:(

Dog wont generally show you when they are in pain.
I had to put my Sinder down last month, and at no point did she ever indicate she was in pain, even though we know she was. If it's been there for weeks take her to the Vets it's obviously not going away

One of the things I do when I have a cat with an owie of some kind is to hydrogen peroxide it well. And relatively often. The hydrogen peroxide will explode any infection, and then the body will heal the tissue around it. I would ONLY recommend this on an area that can't be licked off, because hydrogen peroxide is toxic in quantity.

And before anyone hollers at me about it, my vet is the one who gave me the advice. He said that most often, a small (and he meant small, not medium small or medium) sore will be taken care of with this treatment. And since he knows I rescue cats, and he knows my pocketbook is very thin, he tells me things like this to save the cost of a vet visit.

So try soaking a cotton ball in hydrogen peroxide, and dousing her jowl owie with that. Do that tonight, tomorrow morning, and tomorrow night; if there is no change, then take her into the vet. That's what I'd do, and have done, with my cats. And anyone who knows me knows those cats are my life.

Good luck.

that's what I'd do too if it had only been there a day or two, but it's been there for a couple of weeks, if it's an infection, it can spread through the tissues and you can't see it.
