Focus Monthly's are the contact lens world equivalent of listening to an 8 track instead of a CD... outdated technology. Ciba is actually going to be discontinuing that lens in the near future.. no one is actively fitting them any more, there are many better options out there. No, it's not made for extended wear. The best 2 lenses are Purevision (B&L) and Focus Night and Day (Ciba). Both let about 20x the oxygen through the lens as the Focus Monthlies, which make it infinitely healthier to sleep in. Talk to your eye doc at your next eye exam as to whether or not extended wear is right for you (there are a lot of health reasons not do to it, smoking is also a contraindication) and then ask to try both lenses to see which fits your eye better when the doc checks them and you like better. The nice thing about the lenses is that there are now toric and bifocal lenses available in the higher oxygen transmission materials, so many more people can get them in their prescriptions than could even a few months ago. What I love about eye care is how fast it changes... I don't practice the same way now as I did when I graduated 7 years ago.... keeps my brain busy!! Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
peregrinerose 0 #27 January 19, 2007 http://www.usaeyes.org/lasik/faq/lasik-flap-heal.htm The above has a decent summary on how a cornea heals. You can see that it takes a very very very long time... much longer than 2 weeks, to have any substantial adhesion. Thanks for the answer. It's about time for a visit, and now I can go into the visit with a bit more info. Smoking...not going to happen to my lungs. I like having O2 without CO in my lungs. JeffArch? I can arch just fine with my back to the ground.
