GTAVercetti 0 #1 January 19, 2007 I guess I could have posted this in the photography section, but this is not just about skydiving photography. I have always been interested in taking pictures, but it has taken me this long to actually buy a camera and make a concerted effort to learn about it. So I bought the book "The Betterphoto guide to digital photography." The book focuses on the camera and very little on photo manipulation. Which is what I wanted. Anyway, I didn't realize, but there is also a website: http://www.betterphoto.com. They have lots of cool articles, reviews, courses you can take and monthly phot contests. If anything, just take a look at the pics. A lot of them are quite good. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

mnealtx 0 #9 January 19, 2007 Another VERY good photography book is Bryan Peterson's Understanding Exposure. It gives good explanations of the effect of various settings on the photo, and is especially helpful for landscape photogs, although the info is applicable to other types of photography as well.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. GTAVercetti 0 #10 January 19, 2007 Yes. The author of the better photo book mentions that book in his. This book gives a pretty clear explanation of that stuff. I am really liking it so far. I only have a Fuji Finepix F30 at the moment. But it has a manual setting where I can change aperture, ISO, and shutter speed, so I can practice ith it for now until I go for a good SLR. It takes pretty decent shots too.Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

He's got a lot of good info in there - comes in very handy when you're using full manual, and explains some of the adjustments you may have to make for various lighting. I recommend it. I've heard good things about the Finepix - after a certain price level, it's more the skill of the photographer than the quality of the camera. (Not to mention some luck thrown in as well!) When you're ready to go to the next level with your equipment, check www.bhphotovideo.com - they're one of the largest photo stores out there, and their prices are usually among the lowest. I've never heard of anyone having a problem with B&H that they didn't fix.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
GTAVercetti 0 #12 January 19, 2007 Awesome. I figure I will get a higher end camera maybe in a year. With the ability to go manual on mine, I think it will be good for learning. Yeah, Finepix is good. dcreview.com said it was probably the best compact for its money. Here is a shot I took not long ago. File quality is not so high, but still looks okay. Keep in mind that I didn't even really know how to use my camera fully yet. The Finepix I have does not create raw files and cannot use extra lenses or flash, but it will do for nowWhy yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
