Scoop 0 #3 January 19, 2007 One thing I love about my job is I can legally explore places like this and get paid to do it! pincheck 0 #4 January 20, 2007 yes well looking at some off these places and their description they seem to spend a lot off time breaking trespass laws but the don't do any damage I just don't now how they find these places. The longridge Rover car plant was unbelievable. Even this far down the line since it shut part built cars with keys in the ignition R&D models undergoing tests where they where left panels parts everywhere and the power still on like its sitting waiting for a start up Billy-Sonic Haggis Flickr-Fun
grue 1 #5 January 20, 2007 QuoteAnybody out there do this like these people or This i find the whole thing fascinating I was into that back in the mid-late nineties when I was living in Sydney, had a lot of good times. Had a couple scares, too... there's a very very very large tunnel system under the city that we managed to get lost in for a few hours, it was interesting.cavete terrae. FlyingJ 0 #6 January 20, 2007 For anyone that lives in NYC, a friend of mine who is a guide for the Appalachian Mountain Club leads a Manhattan Bushwhack that is a pretty fun (and very interesting) hike in and around a whole bunch of upper Manhattan that most people are clueless even exists. It's not just a walk on the street either, though there is some of that, it's filled with rock scrambles, boulder hopping down the bank of the Hudson to the GWB (even more fun when it's icy, which are the kind of conditions he looks for to do it). When I lived up there it used to happen every January/February. I don't know if it is even happening any longer, but it might be worth checking out the AMC guide book or giving them a call to see if it is happening. It used to be an AMC sanctioned hike. Not sure if it still is or not. The guy's name is Graeme Birchall. If any of you have ever gone kayaking via the Downtown Boathouse you have probably seen him there too, the tall Kiwi. I don't even know where the boathouse is located any longer since they demolished our old space on Pier 26. Anyway, it's a great time to be had by all. If you are interested and can't find any info, let me know and I'll see if I can't round up contact info for him. I haven't seen him for years, but I might be able to help.Killing threads since 2004. Scoop 0 #9 January 22, 2007 Heres the old prison I checked out. Really odd to be in there. Funding for the prison stopped one day so everyone left the site. Doesnt look like they tried to take anything with the m either. Left it all behind. Thats creepier than an empty shell of a building I think cos its like people should be there. Look slike the local kids go in there quite alot judging by the state of it now

daremrc 0 #14 January 22, 2007 Come to Detroit, its like disneyland for this stuff.... http://www.forgottendetroit.com I've got some pictures buried on my hard drive, we used to do a lot of this stuff but I stopped because I don't need the legal trouble. We infiltrated an old theater in Detroit and I have several unused tickets to a Sly & the Family Stone show from 1974. My buddy explored the old Mowtown records HQ before they tore it down & he found some of Smokey Robinson's fan mail in a desk there.Good judgement comes from experience, and most of that comes from bad judgement.
