American Idol entry fee??

Someone told me that there is an entry fee to try out for American Idol. Anyone know for sure? I can't imagine some of the so called talent paying for the chance to get humiliated.

I do know for sure, and the answer is no.

My old boss' son entered, made it through Round 2, then Simon told him they weren't looking for a country singer, but he had a great voice. WTF?

I never watch the show, but if Cody made it to Hollywood, I would have watched it for him. I pretty much grew up with that kid. I worked for that boss for over 10 years until he sold the company.

I only watch the show for the auditions. They are very entertaining. The rest of the show is just crap.
