TomAiello 26 #3 January 24, 2007 I've got a friend who runs a paragliding school there. That's one option.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com
NewGuy2005 53 #4 January 24, 2007 Forgot to mention that there are no drop zones near by, and while I've always wanted to learn to paraglide, I live in the wrong part of the country for that sport, so I'd never get to do it again after vacation. Jumpervint 0 #11 January 24, 2007 Believe me, you don't want to make a skydive into the airport w/o permission from the control tower, who can neither give you permission, nor deny it, so you do it any way. A few months later you'll get a letter from the FAA saying you owe a $1000 fine for an illegal skydive. Your lawyer friend will be able to negotiate that down to $150, but it still becomes a very expensive skydive. The scenery from altitude is great, though! Vint. . . . . "Make it hard again." TomAiello 26 #12 January 24, 2007 QuoteWhere does my IP place me... Somewhere near Atlanta. It's because of the ISP, I think. Quoteand where is the paragliding center you are referring to? Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, near Chattanooga. USHGA lists a school in Arkansas. You might try calling them and seeing what kind of flight options are around you.-- Tom Aiello Tom@SnakeRiverBASE.com SnakeRiverBASE.com

jm951 0 #14 January 24, 2007 For starters, Yellowstone is just up the road from Jackson. Just outside of Yellowstone is a natural hotspring that mixes with river water, depending on where you sit is how hot it is. There's plenty of great hiking, rafting on the Snake River, and some pretty decent shopping for the better half in what passes for downtown. One interesting place is the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. You just have to see that place to believe it. Stools are all old saddles and lots of woodwork made from some very interesting trees. There's also a place that serves mooseburgers IIRC it's near Jenny Lake. Finally, if you like climbing, there's plenty of that. You'd have to be a bigtime city slicker to not find some cool stuff to do and see. Yellowstone by itself can take up 2-3 days and that's if you just hang out in the touristy areas.
