boinky 0 #1 January 24, 2007 Let the discussion start. Is Crystal Light (or any generic variety thereof) that is made WITH water as good for you as just plain water?Nina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? shermanator 4 #2 January 24, 2007 from what i have heard, the sports drinks can be better for you, when participating in physically draining activities. becasue they have the electrolytes, or whatever it is.CLICK HERE! new blog posted 9/21/08 CSA #
Lindercles 0 #3 January 24, 2007 For the record, Crystal Light is definitely not a sports drink. Come to think of it, what the fuck is the point of Crystal Light anyway?
boinky 0 #4 January 24, 2007 Unfortunately, I don't believe Crystal Light has any of those "electrolytes." The only thing it has going for it is that it has almost 0 calories and 0 carbs. The sports drinks you are referring to are loaded with calories because they are either made with sugar or high fructose syrup.Nina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? NWFlyer 2 #5 January 24, 2007 I think it would depend on the quantity. If you're struggling to get in enough water a day, and Crystal Light is what makes it tolerable for you, it's probably better than not enough. But if you drink a ton of water every day, like I do, I can't imagine that quantity of artifical sweeteners being a good thing. I drink a couple diet sodas a day, but I balance it out with lots and lots of plain water."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. LisaM 0 #7 January 24, 2007 From what I have heard, only water counts for water. It counts towards hydration as do most non-alcoholic beverages. Yes, even caffenated ones. But not as much as water. ~ Lisa ~ Do you Rigminder?

boinky 0 #10 January 24, 2007 Yup. That's me. I've cut back on my carbonated drinks tremendously since the first of the year. And I've been told that I don't drink NEARLY enough fluids in a day. LisaM 0 #11 January 24, 2007 A ton of water is probably a bit much, don't you think? That poor woman who died last week was just under 2 gallons. Be sure to pee! Is it true that as your body gets used to water, you'll have to pee less? I have been fairly religious about drinking water since the start of the new year and I have to stop 1 1/2 hours before leaving work or I have to make a pit stop (or use the kids bathroom at my son's school). ~ Lisa ~ Do you Rigminder? boinky 0 #12 January 24, 2007 Yup. I like the Walmart brand of Crystal Light. They have a grape flavor that I'm in love with. I recently bought some Crystal Light To Go packets in green tea, but they were blueberry flavored. Let's just say that I'll drink these, but won't be making any future purchases of it. I used to hate water. Now I keep my mug within reach at work and I tend to grab it and drink it without realizing it. Much like I would munch without realizing it. I got used to it. Key for me is, I like my water room temperature. So I brought a jug to work and I fill it in the morning from the cooler. ~ Lisa ~ Do you Rigminder? Be sure to pee!or use the kids bathroom at my son's school). Okay, so a ton was probably exaggerated a bit. I drink a lot more than most people, on average 6-8 liters or more a day. I never go anywhere without a water bottle. I have been doing this for years. My body is pretty sensitive to even mild dehydration - I'll get headaches if I go more than an hour or two without drinking water. I have no other underlying medical problems, and I certainly don't drink enough to make myself sick or get hyponatremia. It's just what *my* body needs and what makes me feel good."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please.
