floridadiver81 0 #27 January 25, 2007 i know this goes without being said but make sure you check the gear out before you jump it..no telling what they could have done while it was in their possession. Im glad you got some fo it back..at least the higher priced items. I think the puishment for thieves should be VIOLENTLY AND PAINFULLY removing their fingers...one at a time..but....thats just me"Age has absolutely nothing to do with knowledge, learning, respect, attitude, or personality." -yardhippie "Fight the air, and the air will kick your ass!!! ladyflyer77 0 #34 January 25, 2007 I never thought the day would come when I get to call USPA, and a lot of other people involved in helping me get my gear back and say, "thanks, but I don't need your help anymore. We found my gear!!!" I have had so many people helping me out with this and I want to thank each and every one of you. I have had so many offers with people wanting to loan me gear just so I can get back up in the air. People offering me money to put towards new gear (to which I did not take.) And even people offering to help hold these fuckers down so I can do what ever in the hell I wanted to do to them. You guys are truly the best!!! And the cool thing about it, I don't even know most of you. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! Now maybe I can meet with you on a jump sometime. BillyVance 35 #38 January 25, 2007 QuoteI never thought the day would come when I get to call USPA, and a lot of other people involved in helping me get my gear back and say, "thanks, but I don't need your help anymore. We found my gear!!!" Consider yourself lucky. I haven't seen my gear since it was stolen that day in October from McMinnville, TN in 1998. Gear was in my car, which was stolen too, from right in front of my motel room. Police found my car a week later abandoned in the woods minus the gear. I had been jumping all day and was so tired I didn't bother to unload the car and I wish I had."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
ladyflyer77 0 #39 January 25, 2007 I do consider myself lucky and very fortunate! I'm sorry you never received your gear back. That suck's!! If you like...you can go to our web site skydiveky.com and post it on our lost or stolen page. I know its been a long time but you never know. warpedskydiver 0 #40 January 25, 2007 Meth is a very large problem down there and the cops know that these perps may have screwed other criminals over, this usally results in retailiation and or extreme violence. When the perps are found out to have squealed to save their own hides, the meth cooks will be very upset to say the least, well that is a safe bet. Good thing they were unable to sell your stuff off before they were caught. It is because Skydivers stick together that the gear becomes useless unless it has an alternate use. This is also how surveyors stop loss on their gear. All surveyors will refuse to buy it or offer only $5 bucks or an ass whipping with an axe handle. (it happened in the past and the Chicago PD laughed when they arrived)
ladyflyer77 0 #41 January 25, 2007 I do know this...one of the 4 people is a young woman 6 months pregnant with twins. She was busted in IN early January and because of her situation they are cutting her a deal if she talked. So there you have it. That's how we found our gear. If I stand on my tip toes, I can see the weekend from here!
jimmytavino 16 #42 January 25, 2007 ...well that is just fantastic..... all on here were absolutely bummed out/pissed off... ... when this thievery first became known..... and as is often the case,,, that loss goes unsolved... How COOL... to hear of this recovery.. As a guy whose gear is worth twice the value of his vehicle(s)... I dunno what i would do, if it got stolen...... This recovery comes one month AFTER christmas and so it is a january present from santa ... .... a santa who wears Police officer. blue. or grey or tan or whatever they wear in that part of the country... i have heard of tandem students stealing an altimeter, or frap hat as a damn "souvenir' of a skydive , or if they felt they 'didn't get their money's worth' but to slink into a place under the cover of darkness and raid it of valuable equipment, and tear the very heart and soul out of the gears' owners...... is despicable..... these low lifes,,,,, ( and you'll get no sympathy from Me , even if they ARE Meth addicts)....might best wake up in a jailcell and then get 'awarded' a good amount of prison time.... Hopefully they can then , clean up and restore their lives..... jmy

ladyflyer77 0 #44 January 25, 2007 Yeah...not to sure on why they would take such valuable items such as my fucking gear. Maybe they under estimated how hard it would be to resell it. Just because something may cost more than "most of our own veihicles", doesn't mean you can sell it off. Its this awesome group called "skydivers" that keeps things like this from happening. I have said it many times and will say it again, thank all of you!!! If I stand on my tip toes, I can see the weekend from here!
