faulknerwn 38 #26 January 3, 2007 Pac 750! I did a tandem video today out of it, and it was less than 7 minutes to altitude and it landed before me :-) The Pac rocks! W
Unstable 9 #27 January 3, 2007 I dont' see too many Porter's around in the States - I would imagine that with the single turbine engine, they would be more economical to fly compared to a King Air or Twin Otter - Is there some hidden cost to running a Porter that you wouldn't see with other turbine jumpships?=========Shaun ==========

PWScottIV 0 #30 January 3, 2007 So far I've jumped a 206, a 208, a King Air, and a PAC 750. My favorite was the PAC, but I'd really like to jump some rear exit planes...Gravity Waits for No One.
siddacious 0 #31 January 3, 2007 Given I've only jumped out of two, but I voted for the 182 over the KA. The view in the Cessna that Byron has is much better than the KA, and it's more comfortable to boot! Don't get me wrong, I love the KA, but the 182 has a loveable charm that the KA can't match.A dolor netus non dui aliquet, sagittis felis sodales, dolor sociis mauris, vel eu libero cras. flygirl1 0 #34 January 4, 2007 Thats a hard one. I voted for the pac because I've made some of my most memorable jumps out of it, including my first one. I did love the casa and handing off the strut of the 206 was a blast as well. I also liked the spaciousnes and the seating arrangement of the Twin Otter and I like how fast the king air in Monetary can get you to altitude but, I wasn't fond of the smaller door.Fly like a girl
Amazon 7 #35 January 4, 2007 Quote1) Twin Otter 2) King Air 3) Caravan Can't speak for the Casa, Porter, PAC-750 but the rest of the listed aircraft are to slow and noisy!! Get me to alti FAST and I am happy!! You want FAST.. you need to come try the Porter at Mt Vernon.. we usually get 14k in 10 to 12 minutes

Most of it is insurnace and finding planes that already aren't in a pile. they are a fun plane to fly, but not one that you can sit back and relax with, it is a lot of work. It might be that there aren't a lot of pilots that are qualified or that meet insurance mins

squarecanopy 0 #41 January 26, 2007 Hey Zing- That is a great story!!! My vote so far is the Twin Otter. It is twin engine reliable, gobs of power, STOL, and slow on the jump run, which makes climbing out much nicer. I love the King Air because I used to fly in one years ago with my dad and for the great rate of climb, just as long as we are making a diving exit. Otherwise that 100 knot jump run speed just beats the tweedle out of you if you climb out. I started jumping out of a 206 at Calhan CO and the slow rate of climb meant a long time at higher altitude, resulting in alot of hypoxic jumpers. If you are doing H&P's it is a fun ride- Just burning a hole in the sky.....
