Kidd 0 #1 October 6, 2006 Our house appears to be sold and we are finally moving forward on our long anticipated move. Does anyone know the Evergreen area west of Denver? We are driving over to check the area out at the end of October and also need to find a place to store our 23' camp trailer until we arrive in mid November. We visited the dropzone in Longmont last April and can't wait to make our first jumps. What's that? "300 days of sunshine a year" Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated. AFFI 0 #2 October 6, 2006 Don't know if you are going far enough South to get the really good year round skydiving weather...
skycat 0 #3 October 6, 2006 Evergreen is really nice, but can be a bitch of a comute in the winter if it's snowing, because while it might be raining in downtown denver, it's definately snowing in the foot hills. Let's just say "300 days of sunshine" is a bit of a lie, they actually count any day the sun comes out even for just a few minutes a day of sunshine. Now with the tunnel it's not so bad, last Feb it was -14 outside and a toasty 75 in the tunnel. I definately wouldn't want to be skydiving in that weather. This is a multi-sport state, so expect to end up taking up a few more outdoor sports when you move here.Fly it like you stole it!
JohnnyD 0 #4 October 6, 2006 QuoteEvergreen is really nice..... If you can afford a solid place in Evergreen, you may be as close to heaven on earth as it gets. YMMV.
Kidd 0 #5 October 6, 2006 The multi-sport aspect of the state is why we chose to move. That, and we're tired of the !@#$ing rain and clouds and damp ass mildew growing between my toes from living in the northwest. (I know what that statement is going to bring) The tunnel and skiing willl be awesome in the winter.

skycat 0 #7 October 6, 2006 Don't forget there is also rock climbing, mtn biking, hiking, snow shoeing, skijoring (if you have a dog), and well a ton of other things. Now that I think about it, I really need a bigger garage. Fly it like you stole it!

You seem to be a bit of a pessimist on Colorado weather. Aside from the terrible hot and dry states in the south, you don't get better clear days than in Colorado. Even in the winter, there are a ton of sunny days just waiting to be jumped. Mile Hi has only been shut down for about two weeks over the course of this winter and they jumped every other week. Chilly, but clear a lot of the time. Cheers, Travis
karenmeal 0 #9 January 27, 2007 Congratulations on the move! In the next year or 4 (depending on where I go to grad school) we are looking to leave the dismal Northwest and are setting our sights on Colorado. Let me know how glorious the change in weather is.
