skydivermom 0 #1 January 30, 2007 I just saw the most unusual sort of skydive/base jump. The guy didn't come out of a plane or jump from any fixed object. He was slung from the ground to almost a thousand feet, cut away the bungee and pulled his chute. Sort of like a reverse bungee jump. It was done at the Royal Gorge bridge and is the coolest stunt I've seen so far. It was shown on the Discovery Channel. Did any one else see it, and can you post a link to a pic or video? I checked DiscoveryChannel.com and couldn't find it. So, if it wasn't a base jump or a skydive, what was it?Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:

skydivermom 0 #6 January 30, 2007 Yes, they did the hanger swoop stunt after the reverse bungee jump/skydive. Wow....I considered myself an adrenaline junkie, until tonight!Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:
FreeflyChile 0 #7 January 30, 2007 the bungee thing was really cool. the hangar swoop, i've seen before, at a bigger, longer hangar.
FreeflyChile 0 #8 January 30, 2007 i was wondering about something like that the other day.... in superman returns, superman takes the giant island that lex luthor makes and throws it into space. if someone was on the island as he took it into the sky and jumped off with a parachute, is it a base jump or a skydive, since the island is flying? icevideot 0 #9 January 30, 2007 My guess is that it is not a skydive because he did not use an aircraft. (plane, copter, balloon, etc.) I don't think it is a BASE jump either. Maybe a BASE launch?"... this ain't a Nerf world."

skydivermom 0 #14 January 30, 2007 Okay, I'll ask a deep question. When, exactly, is my pieing planned, and what, exactly, is going to be in the pies?Mrs. WaltAppel All things work together for good to them that love God...Romans 8:

skydivermom 0 #16 January 30, 2007 Linder is taking his sweet time with my pieing, and I fear that the longer he waits, the worse it's gonna be. Like dog food or something equally gross will end up among the ingredients. brianfry713 0 #18 January 30, 2007 Video of the stunt is here: http://dsc.discovery.com/beyond/player.html?bclid=164950249 It wasn't a skydive, it was a reverse bungee cutaway freefall to a a parachute descent. I'd log it as a BASE jump in the O category. It's only a skydive if you jump from a flying aircraft.BASE 1224, Senior Parachute Rigger, CPL ASEL IA, AGI, IGI USPA Coach & UPT Tandem Instructor, PRO, Altimaster Field Support Representative

Iceburner 0 #20 January 30, 2007 I watched both those stunt junkies too...but mainly because on the swoop through the hanger the prgm description on my tv said, "skydive and parachute deployment through hanger"...and i thought to myself, that guy has gotta be f'n nuts...but then turns out to be a swoop...still crazy, but i want to see the skydive and deployment in a hanger
skydivermom 0 #21 January 30, 2007 Yeah, well, just remember. Whatever gross concoction ends up in the pies will find it's way into your egg salad sammiches! skydivermom 0 #24 January 30, 2007 I would have missed it if my 8=year old son hadn't dragged me into the living room to watch it. It's kinda odd seeing that kind of stuff and actually being able to say I've done it.
