Well, finally got a working copy of my x-rays from my surgery. The first disk was bad and it took till today to get a working copy.

It ended up that there were more little pieces of broken bone, not just the two major pieces as the doc originally thought. He decided to still just use one plate instead of a sandwich of two because while the extra plate/screws would have pulled the bones together tight, they would also weaken the small pieces of bone and not help that much. The new bone growth will fill in all the little spaces and be just as strong in the long run.

I have the permanent cast on and it feels so much better. Considerably lighter and more comfortable.

Thanks to the Atlanta crew, McDuck, and Skymama for the cool cards. To Gia, Shell, and NWFlyer, thanks for the stuff to keep me warm, fed and occupied. Took a shot of just some of the loot. The big monkey was mine, but needed a model for the toque/tuque. (no agrueing Shell and Remi)

I asked the doc if I should bring my own cordless drill, an 18 volt Milwaukee, in case he needed more power.

He said he was a Makita man. At least he knows his Ortho, but not his tools.

Not sure if the screws will set of the metal detectors. But if they do, might end up getting the old cavity search when they don't believe me and they can't find anything in my clothes.

Actually, no. It really didn't hurt at all until I had the surgery. It feels better because the swelling has gone down and the permanent cast fits better and is lighter.

My mom got an artificial knee that sets off every metal detector known to man. The hospital gave her an ID that has an x-ray picture of her knee on it stating that it will set off all metal detectors. She still gets "randomly" searched everytime she goes to the airport.
