Guys Belly-Off Contestant Update

Bring it on, big boy! Apparently you don't know me as well as you thought you did!

I'm pretty sure I'm the fattest guy to post pictures thus far. :P

Edit to add: No, I wasn't sticking my belly out...I wasn't even completely relaxed. Also, for posterity's sake, I gotta say that jean manufacturers must lie. I'm showing 38 on the waist and 42 at the belly button. I have to wear a belt to hold my one pair of 36" pants up and most of my 34" pants. :S

Maybe so, but on the bright side, with some hard work you probably have the best chance of winning! (There were several other comments I was thinking of writing having to do with giving birth to alien beings, but I decided to be positive and encouraging instead :)

Maybe we should organize a "Belly gone" naked boogie in May to celebrate newfound hotness for all.

Think again. Here's some competition. All 228lbs of me! (ok, minus 1lb for the camera). ;)

I think I made the deadline - 11:56PM :P

Btw, the mag pic is Feb Skydiver. I've yet to get my Parachutist yet.

Funny you say that... part of my goal was to get trim enough to feel comfortable doing my 500th jump naked. My huband and I will hit 500 in 3 months or so and thought about a naked 2 way.

I almost took the pics in my running shorts, but decided against it, as I didn't want to scare the ladies away from DZ.com:D
Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie.

I might be able to give you a run for your money there. Sent these in last night and thought I attached them when I posted, but I guess I didn't.

Here goes it...starting out at about 215. I was holding strong around 200 for the last couple years, but packed the extra 15 on since I moved to Texas and have been eating Tex Mex and drinking Shiner non-stop! This is 5lbs short of my all time high. From 220 in college I decided I was tired of it and started running and eating better and got down to 160. Found out I loved running, but unfortunately over did it and took a huge toll on my knees. Gonna' have to find a way to get the cardio impact from running without actually doing it!

Anyone ever hear of a program for aerobic ice cream eating? I'd be a champ!:D:D

Yhus! Even if it is only because I'm downright svelte compared to most of the jumpers you hang out with! :D:D:D

FYI - I need to burn off enough calories over the next two days to offset all the Saturday night and Super Bowl drinking. ;)

I did much the same thing in colege... only I managed to keep myself relatively uninjured. Have you considered rowing? I started doing that in my last year of colege and never looked back... if you start using an indoor rower you will want someone to give you pointers on technique. (cause there are a lot of people that don't do it right.)

I'm pretty much on the same page. I did several years fluctuaring between 195 and 205, then got up to my (then) all-time high of 217 (now beaten by half a pound). That was a few years ago, and I worked my way down to 185, before settling in the 200-205 range up until a few months ago. I think I would have to lose some muscle to get down to 160. Even 175 would be pretty damned difficult.

That was pretty much my case. I was running, using a NordicTrac ski machine and playing tons of raquetball, no strength training. I lost the piles of weight and eventually when my knees started complaining got more into a well rounded workout and started putting muscle weight back on. Then I moved to NYC and started putting on pizza weight and it all went downhill from there. I've always been very active, it's just a matter of focusing my activity to areas that will help burn off some pounds!

I graduated HS at 165... fluctuated around 180-185 while in the service, then started gaining after I got out. Was 245 in Aug 92 and have been within the 225-240 range since then. The last couple years I've made a halfhearted attempt to watch my diet since learning I have high cholesterol - that's what got me started on controlling my carbs.

I'm taking this opportunity to get my diet FIRMLY back under control and get back into better shape. I know I'll probably never get back down below 180 without serious gym time that I just can't do because of work and gym limitations, but I can at least get better than I am - I'll be well-pleased if I can get down to 180-185.

I've always had joint issues so I knew what I was getting into when I started running, but it was such a good feeling, especially once the pounds started just dropping off that I kept it up for much longer than I should have. I started my working out at the end of my junior year and hit it hard all summer, so when people started coming back into town and commenting on how much weight I had lost it didn't matter how much my knees hurt, I felt like I had to keep going. I've gotten over that now. No pain no gain...to a certain degree, but now I know the limits!

I don't think I'll be going out to buy anything new, but I do have an elliptical runner thing - actually the cheapest version of "Tony Little's Gazelle" that I picked up a while back for really cheap. It offers a very low impact "run" so hopefully I can just get myself into a regular schedule with that.
