Screw This Fitness Quest! I'M STARVING!!!

Recommended Posts

:D:D:D:D

Naw, I'm not ready to give it up only a few hours into it. :P

-but I am friggin' starving and I already had my morning shake at 8am. :S

I think I'll have a bowl of Kashi cereal and skim milk...and some FREAKING COFFEE!!!

(Apologies to everyone that has been so sweet trying to help me break the caffeine addiction...but dudes: one bad habit at a time. :|:D)

Seriously though, I took ALL of your advice: Gonz, I'm going to eat an apple (maybe I'll do that instead of the cereal!) Lisa I am drinking LOTS o' water & cutting down gradually instead of the cold turkey...skymama I'm about to workout. I don't intend to completely quit; I am hoping that like many habits I have successfully conquered, I will be able to learn to drink coffee and eat delicious foods (drool) in moderation.

OK...blah blah blah...anyone else SUCKING wanting a donut right now?! :S:S:S

What's wrong with coffee? I drink a ton of it, it's part of how I lost my first 80 lbs.... drinking coffee with a little skim milk and a little splenda is almost no calories and made me feel full all the time. I'm just finishing my pot of coffee for the day.

Breakfast today was coffee and a large orange. Lunch was Confetti Chicken from Applebees (something like 350 calories for lunch) and more coffee, dinner is leftover ham/potato soup from last night (200 calories/cup, I eat 2 cups and am full). Then late night snack is a 60 calorie smoothie. I already drank over a quart of water.

Definitely no starvation going on, I always feel full this way. Hang in there.. you can do it too!

I think Maxwell House makes a "lite" coffee that has half the amount of caffeine in it. Maybe that will help you a bit to drink that.

I'm serious... the apple thing works. If you need to, have 2 apples. healthy and light. :)
stick with it. you can do it.
Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie.

Ooh! BRILLIANT! Thanks, mama! I totally forgot that I have 4 CASES of caffeine free coffee out in the product room! :S:S:S

They've been out there for months because I accidentally screwed up the stock number when ordering, and NOBODY buys freaking caff-free and I thought that I would go through it somehow. :S

I'll cut my pot of coffee with half Columbian bold (my FAV) and half caffeine free. B|B|B|

You guys are all so shmart!!

Oh and Peregrinerose...I used coffee to help me lose weight in the army, but it tore up my stomach (lower carbs/fat higher caffeine was a bad combo for me). I'll try the 1/2 1/2 idea and see if that helps!

Remember, this is not about starving yourself.

I don't know how people can get through a morning on just a shake. I gotta have real food.

If I'm reading that right, that's under 1000 calories a day. Careful you don't eat too little and send your body into self-preservation mode. [:/]

I just had a small bowl of 'grape nuts' type cereal and skim...and I'm going to get a very small cup o' coffee.

Arthur, I found the Premier Brand protein bars at Costco work for me for breakfast. They are about 300 calories, 30 grams of protein and 20 grams of carbs. Three flavors so you don't get bored and they don't have that gritty texture that most high protein content bars have. They are real chewy, so you feel like you have had a lot more to eat then just a small bar. It helps to drink a lot of water or tea with them. Both to help chew them up and makes you feel full. I tend to not drink enough in the morning, so it kills to birds with one stone.

I find that a little bag with some mini shredded wheats and some peanuts is a VERY satisfying afternoon snack. And without the sugar I don't end up getting sleepy. It's also really easy, which is important. If it ain't easy or fun, I won't do it consistently.

I'm going to go get a pizza.:)

YESSSS!!! I just began my Master's of Education classes, and I've been stuffing my face with all kinds of REALLY "bad" food. I know that it sucks, but my stress (no exercise) used to burn EVERYTHING off 10 + years ago, when I was last in college. I'm hoping that at 35 with school + work + SO and all of my health issues, I can still keep the weight off. I might have to work-out every once in a while, if I can find the time.

Besides, I go through periods of wanting junk food, fast food, sweets, and then, I want only natural, healthy food. I can overindulge on either extreme. What the hell...let's go have pizza and coke (or beer for you)! YAAAAAY!!!!

Edited: By the weekend, I'll ONLY want fruits, veggies and seafood. I tend to prefer lighter food, if given a choice, but I never deny myself something sweet, if I need it. I just move on to good eating habits the next time or whenever I'm ready.

I do snack on fresh veggies during the day, and since I'm eating regularly, I doubt I'll go into starvation mode. Plus, when I lost all the weight before, I kept Sundays as my 'eat whatever the hell I want to day' just so I wouldn't go into starvation mode. It worked very well.

Obviously, you know what works best for you since you've been successful at taking weight off and keeping it off. I know that little food would shut my body down, but everyone's different.

That's probably the biggest thing everyone needs to remember - there's no magic formula that's going to work for every body type/shape/size/person. Applies both to nutrition and exercise.

I don't know how people get through the morning eating breakfast... I have to force myself to eat breakfast when I'm actually trying to lose weight.

Very true. And too bad... it would be so much easier if everyone's body chemistry worked the same way so it would be easy to figure out what worked:S I'm 3 years older than when I lost the weight before, and although I kept it off, just because my system worked then doesn't mean it'll still work now... but it's a starting place.

Yep, once again a good reminder to me that one size doesn't fit all! I will be starving within an hour of waking up and cranky about a half hour after that, so in a way I envy people who can get halfway to lunchtime before hunger kicks in. For them, a protein bar or shake would probably work great. I'd be miserable!

But my point there was more that Jaye shouldn't have to be hungry - back to my original point in the other thread - listen to your body. It'll tell you what it needs!

Why would you? I don't normally eat anything till lunchtime, so I don't see any reason to start eating at a time when my body is accustomed to not getting anything.
