boinky 0 #1 January 31, 2007 Okay...it's not really a career, or I wouldn't be posting this gripe, huh? But on with my sad story.... I am one of the guilty "law breakers" who live in the United States and still want to play online poker at Pokerstars.com. Unfortunately for me, I had a bad streak of luck and now currently have $1.34 in my cash account. Since most of the companies refuse to deal with US customers now, I tried to use epassporte, which Pokerstars highly recommended. I followed all the rules. I used my debit card and they debited my account for $1.19 to ensure that I truly did have a bank account. BUT....when I tried to deposit/transfer $50.00 into my new epassporte account from my banking debit card, the transaction was declined. WTF??? I know I have money in there! I immediately called the number of epassporte, as I was smart enough to print all 16 pages of their rules, regulations and disclaimers. The gentleman was very polite, but told me that it wasn't THEM that there was a problem with, since they HAD debited me for the $1.19. They said I needed to contact my bank. When I finally got through to my bank, I talked to three different people and finally to a "Loss Prevention" department. The lady knew exactly why I called. She then informed me, once again very politely, that my bank has a strict rule about using their debit/credit cards for online gambling. Supposedly, it's a protection to me. I explained to her that I wasn't gambling on epassporte, but just retaining a cash payable account, sort of like PayPal. But she said that their banking transactions come through as a gambling web site, so they declined it. She said there was no way around it and that this transaction would never be approved. How in the hell is it for MY protection if I'm calling THEM trying to get the transaction to go through? Obviously, I want to do it, or I wouldn't have jumped through hoops to get them to approve it. How can they tell me what I can and can't use MY money for, for God's sake? Sadly, one of the only other options for me is to send a check/money order to Pokerstars myself, but the minimum is $100 and I'm not interested in plopping that much into an account at one time to sit around and let me play $1.10 games at a time until it's all gone, or I win big (ppfff...yeah...THAT'LL happen). Obviously, I'm not in it for the money, or I wouldn't be having to worry about lack of funds in my account. Yes, I could play for "play money," but for those of you who have played on this site, you undoubtedly know what sort of morons play there. And besides, what fun is playing for "play money?" It's not like I can do anything with it. But because of policies and laws, it looks like my one little bit of fun is about to die a stupid death. Now I guess I better not get my hopes up. I have less than a dollar in my pokerstars account, so right now, the only money games I can play in are the 10 cent and 25 cent tournaments, plus the freeroll games that offer cash payouts (mostly pennies unless you make the final table). So that's what I have been doing. There are freeroll games with a $250 total payout, and I've made the money twice for 10 cents each. Freeroll games only require a fee in FPP (Frequent Player Points) points which you earn from playing money games. There are also Hubble freeroll games which always fill up with the maximum 10,000 players and the final 27 move on to a $1000 payout game the following weekend. Last night I made it to 189th, but got beat by the chip stack leader, who had over 400,000 chips to my 27,000 stack. Bitch had A 5 offsuit and I had JJ, and caught an ace on the river. Had to play it because she was raising 10K chips on every freaking card. Anyway, the $250 freeroll games are probably your best bet to try and raise enough money to get back into the sit-n-go games and then make the payouts to go on to bigger games. I would probably go ahead and send a $100 money order to pokerstars if that is the only way to do it, but to where? They're not based in the U.S. that's for sure. I'll find out... I put in $30 a month through Neteller and if I ran out of that before the end of the month, I waited until the next month to import more money. It's a good system, a jump and a half worth. The government says no to online gambling, yet they allow the fucking lotteries and powerball shit as well as other gambling outlets. Simply put, if they can't figure out a way to tax the winnings, they will find a way to shut down or close off access indirectly, and that's exactly what's happening here. If you do go looking around in those dark corners, make sure your firewall, antivirus and spyware are all updated.
