wmw999 2,589 #1 February 4, 2007 My dad is 89, he's nearly blind, and his girlfriend is not doing all that well (she might have to move soon). A week and a half ago he broke his hip, so he's in the rehab hospital right now. You'd think he'd be pissed at the world (well, sometimes he is), and ready to take it easy. Instead, yesterday, when he found they hadn't scheduled him for PT, he rolled himself down to the PT room and asked for more. Today he plans on doing the same thing. They're a little short-handed right now (which is why some folks aren't scheduled for weekends), but they're VERY willing to make time for someone who wants it badly enough to ask for it. I hope I'm that cool when I'm his age. Heck, I hope I get to be his age, if he's an example of where you can be. Last year he went to Brazil, New England, and Chicago for vacations. This year he's scaling back; no Brazil trip. But the others are still on. And in 1 year, if his health will allow, he'll make his second tandem jump. His first was when he was 85, and he's making hte second to do it with my sister-in-law, who wants to do one when her daughter turns 2. I keep telling him he should ask the rehab folks if this will get in the way of his skydiving So here's to attitude Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

Good luck to him in his recovery (though it doesn't sound like he'll need it). ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug!
