jtval 0 #1 February 7, 2007 I have this ridiculous problem with my DVD drive. it seems to have a memory and its been pissing me off. If I put a Picture disc (CD) in the drive it will read the disc ( most of the time.) but once I remove the disc and put another one in it will not read it. it only pulls up the pictures from the original disc.(that is no longer in the drive) WTF, Is going on? How can I make the drive usable? I have a second dvd drive that will not allow me to open any picture disc(CD) i put in it. and the 2nd drive will not burn. if I click on it it says drive is not accessible. I do have them set as master ans slave but they seem to be fucked up. can anyone help?My photos My Videos
pds 0 #2 February 7, 2007 the 'memory' issue is an OS prob. get it on xp a lot. not quite as extreme as yours, mainly keeps the same disc title. i can see it still showing the directory listing of the disc that used to be in there (been there) but if you are trying to tell me that you can still open files that are on a disc thatr isn't in the drive... well, they have medicine for that. reboot with the drive empty and it should work. not optimal but you do what you have to. also, test the drive. put it in another machine that doesn't present the same problems, i think you will find the drive is fine.namaste, motherfucker. jtval 0 #3 February 7, 2007 yea, the drive is fine....I replced the old one because I thought it may have been a bad drive. this drive is doing the same thing. when I reboot it usually works but theres GOT to be a better fix than rebooting everytime I switch discsMy photos My Videos
gitRdone 0 #4 February 7, 2007 Make sure the CD-ROM you bought is compatible with Windows XP and make sure you are using the latest device driver. You can check Hardware Compatibility here: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hcl/default.mspx More likely a device driver problem, update your driver using device manager. Also insure you have the latest XP service pack installed, service pack 2 fixed a bunch CD-ROM bugs if I remember correctly.
