wildfan75 1 #1 February 8, 2007 So I wake up this morning to find out that my furnace quit working sometime overnight. It's currently -8F outside (real feel temp of -24F) and 47 degrees and dropping in my house. Called the friggin' gas company to come look at my furnace at 7am and they said they would be out between now and 3:30pm. WTF!!! It's almost 10am and haven't heard a word. And I can't go into work because they said they can only give me a 20 minute notice of when they'll show up and work is more than 20 minutes away. So I sit here, freezing my ass off waiting for these fuckers to get here! Ugh! So it got me thinking. I wonder if they're waiting as long as possible so I'll totally be nippin' out when they get here. I wonder if they know that my maximum nippage point was about a half hour ago. The turkey's are done and over cooked and I'm starting to think I could start my own diamond cutting business. And before anyone posts something like "Let see pictures!", I would, but the batteries in my camera died last night. They say it goes in threes...camera, furnace...what's next? I think that when they show up I'll give them a hug after I take a tire iron to their knees. You should crack your faucets a little bit if it starts to get anywhere near 30 degrees in the house. I ran some water in all three faucets and turned the oven on and cracked the door. I face east and no longer have any direct sunlight so I'm sure the temp is going to drop rather rapidly now. I did call and leave a message for the managment company letting them know that if CPE doesn't get out here soon I'm going to have potential issues. I really wish that all my long underware and wool socks weren't at the dz right now. At least I have my dog to keep my feet warm. I'll definitely keep that in mind. This whole sub zero thing is getting old fast! Centerpoint Energy finally showed up around 2:15pm (over 7 hours after I called). Fixed one part, replaced another and an hour later, I have heat again!!! Amount of money spent on fixing furnance instead of jumping: $0! Finally saw some return on the home service plus I've paid every month for five years! So nipples have been restored to normal density, I'm feeling my toes again, and typing is much easier without mittens on! Thanks to you all for letting me bitch!
