happythoughts 0 #1 February 10, 2007 At the gym, they should serve punch and cookies or something. It's not just men or women, it's a lot of people. I know 2 guys who come in for 45 minutes and spend 20-25 of it talking. Not about exercise. Sports, current events, politics. I have 45-60 minutes to work out. I recently bought some headphones because people talk less if it takes more effort. I'm not being anti-social, I just have limited time. If they want to chat, we could go eat snacks at Chilis. I think it is a small town thing. At the bigger gyms in Tampa, people were doing their own thing.

Now that you mention it... they made the suspicious comment to me that tube socks with the colored stripe around the top are out of fashion. Metrosexuals obviously. Behind the times too. Tube socks are the new liederhosen.

But I'm usually there on vacation and my parents are retired, so it's never much of a big deal. My gym, people say hi and smile, especially those of us who tend to be there at the same times consistently, but we all pretty much do our thing and get out."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please.
