smiles 0 #1 February 10, 2007 hmm, i have a tiny house to renovate and having a riot. . part1- got to play with granite tiles, grout...but first had to beef up underneath floor with 2x4's and then lay down cememt board...(got to practise my tiling skills for the bathroom & kitchen reno) part2- yehh, now i've ripped the carpet off my stairs and they are nakid,,,ewwwwhhh, theyv'e been carpeted their whole 23 yrs. and are in shittty condition) part3 is to laminate the top floor of house and enjoying ripping carpet up...underlay worn so layer of dirt under carpet is disgusting... - should i laminate stairs after replacing treads or rip em up and replace with oak stairs sold separate from home depo (there is only 6 stairs and would total $210.) ?????? re: laminate will be oak color on top floor but figure laminated stairs will be slippery??? JohnMitchell 16 #2 February 10, 2007 For $210, rip 'em out and replace them would be my first thought. Two questions. Is this house for resale or are you going to live there a while? Are those stairs close to the entry where they make an early impression, or are they in a more remote, less impressive part of the house?
