part3 is to laminate the top floor of house and enjoying ripping carpet up...underlay worn so layer of dirt under carpet is disgusting...:|

- should i laminate stairs after replacing treads or rip em up and replace with oak stairs sold separate from home depo (there is only 6 stairs and would total $210.) ??????

re: laminate will be oak color on top floor but figure laminated stairs will be slippery???

For $210, rip 'em out and replace them would be my first thought. Two questions. Is this house for resale or are you going to live there a while? Are those stairs close to the entry where they make an early impression, or are they in a more remote, less impressive part of the house?

We just finished tiling the kitchen, 300+ square feet, and replacing the trim. Lot of work, but it looks great.
