RandomLemming 0 #1 December 6, 2006 Hi all, Just trying to get the last of my clothing for the UK this year and my trip to empuriabrava. I've got icebreaker everything for the warm layer so far (2x tops at different weights, 1x trouser layer, glove liners) and some lined trousers. I'm now just trying to find the windproof layer. Looking around, the Gore Windstopper stuff looks ok as a windstopper layer. Has anyone used this for skydiving, and if so, how did it work for you ? Any idea where I can find the gore stuff in London / SE? I've tried Evans but they were their usual helpful selves. Any other advice on the windproof layer that will go under a jumpsuite would be much appreciated :)
dragon2 2 #2 December 6, 2006 Get one of the rainbow warmsuits, you'll see a few at Empuria for sure! http://www.rainbowsuits.com/en/jumpsuits/airtherm-suit.shtml Best suit I ever bought, it's warm, windproof and smooth so you can wear it underneath your jumpsuit comfortably. ciel bleu, Saskia
RandomLemming 0 #3 December 7, 2006 Those look great... Not sure I'll be able to get one before my trip though. I'll try ringing them today anyways:)
WatchYourStep 0 #4 December 7, 2006 Dang $300 How cold have you used that suit in? Is it good enough that you can wear just that and your normal jumpsuit in temps of say roughly 20 F on the ground? dragon2 2 #5 December 7, 2006 No clue what 20F is in oC, but Empuria at Xmas last year was %^^&& cold and the suit worked fine. For Dutch/German etc winters it is absolutely great. Quite a few "old" jumpers at our DZ have these, they last forever. Esp the CRW guys seem to love 'em (it's cold at 12k under your main). It's cheaper than buying 2 or 3 layers of thermal stuff anyway. Like I said, best suit I ever bought, and I dare include my wingsuit in that too! I hate cold and without it I'd be barely able to move with so many layers of clothing ciel bleu, Saskia
dragon2 2 #6 December 7, 2006 BTW it's sorta sleeping-bag stuff. Inner layer is regular fabric type, then the "filling", then the windproof, water resistant and smooth/shiny outer layer (at least that's how I think it is put together). ciel bleu, Saskia

RandomLemming 0 #8 December 8, 2006 Heh... I was out last weekend, and the thermals work great to be honest... I was just looking for the one last bit to be perfectly snug.
