Amazon 7 #51 February 13, 2007 Quote So glad the guy lived to tell the tale, but why go to the international media with it??? Jump money???
happythoughts 0 #52 February 13, 2007 The media is a double-edged sword. Good Morning America did some nice interviews, etc at Zhills a few years ago. The good and bad balance out. However, if you are faced with talking to the media, be polite and guide them over to the dzo.

2fat2fly 0 #55 February 13, 2007 I really wasn't bitching about the media, or people that have genuine questions, but about all of the people that feel the need to try to make fun of my hobby. After a few times, we have the exact same conversation. I know they think I'm nuts, and I know that they don't want a factual discussion, they just want to tell me loudly and in front of others that they think I'm nuts.I am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried
steveorino 7 #56 February 13, 2007 Quote I've already gotten calls and emails from 'concerned' family and friends since Today is doing a segment on an accident this morning. In my proactive way, I've made a little sign to hang outside me cube today. "Yes, I'm aware that the Today Show did a segment on a skydiving accident on this morning's edition. In South Carolina, a person is injured in a traffic accident every 16.2 minutes. Did you walk to work? Kinda terse, but the same people come by everytime a news story come out making the same comments and jokes. Most of us bring that stuff on ourseleves. Why? Because we can't stop talking to whuffos about skydiving. I learned that 1000 jumps ago. steveOrino
lisamariewillbe 1 #57 February 13, 2007 I was thinking the same thing, the normal people in my life dont really know I jump, skydivings like reading a book to me, I dont sit there all day and constantly talk about the books I read. I personally only saw the video a few minutes ago. I dont care much about how the incident happened blah blah blah thats for the other thread, all I know is right before a man hit the ground he waved to the camera and said "This is it, goodbye" and he lived. Medias media, sometimes they help sometimes they dont. I think his survival should be celebrated and today show I think for wuffos didnt do so bad.Sudsy Fist: i don't think i'd ever say this Sudsy Fist: but you're looking damn sudsydoable in this
cocheese 0 #58 February 13, 2007 It's easy for me to understand a wuffo's thinking. I have a similar feeling when my friends BASE jump from low objects. Most of our parents and family probably have that same feeling. Poor whuffos.
