jacketsdb23 49 #1 February 13, 2007 Ok, so I'm an idiot and left my gear bag locked in my car. A smashed window later and 1 stolen gear bag later.....i'm left with almost nothing. My rig is safe (always take that out of my car) but this is what is missing: 1 bonehead helmet w/ pro dyter 1 parachute de france altimeter (miami vice altimeter as Ficus calls it) wrist mount 1 Tony (brand new) RW suit w/ booties. Colors: red/black w/ yellow grippers 1 Bomber FreeFly suit. Colors: Teal/Yellow w/ Grey outline 1 Log Book - w/ 210 jumps logged. 1 SIM 1 IRM 2 pairs of Goggles 1 Red gear bag Not really expecting to get it back but in case someone come across a craigslist post or Ebay post thought I'd put it out there. jacketsdb23 49 #5 February 13, 2007 It happened on Jones St. between Washington and Clay. Right in front of two fucking hotels. Video from one hotel is too grainy to see anything. I'm going to follow up with them this evening. The other hotel has no video in that area. At the end of the day its my fault for leaving shit like that in my car. It just sucks that there are people like that out there. Its not like they can even do anything with it. My feeling is they took it, realize what it is and toss it in a dumpster.Losers make excuses, Winners make it happen God is Good Beer is Great Swoopers are crazy. ladyflyer77 0 #7 February 13, 2007 Sorry to hear about your lose. I hope you get your stuff back. I'm not sure if you are familiar with the situation at our dz with all the stuff stolen and we got most of it back. I hope you have some of the same luck we did. So, don't give up hope. One word of advice. Since it was in your car, turn it into your insurance company. If you have home owner insurance its better off then car insurance. But either way, turn it in. Good to hear at least you rig was safe If I stand on my tip toes, I can see the weekend from here!

And lots of it was visible. I really need to empty my car more often. It's empty now, so I guess I could park at your place again.

skybytch 273 #12 February 13, 2007 Bummer. Serious suggestion - go check dumpsters within a mile or so radius of where your car was parked. I had the same thing happen once; I found my logbook and jumpsuit in a dumpster a mile away from where my car was parked.
godfrog 2 #13 February 13, 2007 theivery really sucks! maybe a suggestion though is to keep stuff in your trunk. most cases like that are smash and grab. If they don't see it it's not worth while to go looking. keep stuff outta sight.Experience is a difficult teacher, she gives you the test first and the lesson afterward
jacketsdb23 49 #14 February 13, 2007 I'll give it a shot...lots of dumpsters in SF. I wouldn't even know where to begin. Well on the plus side, at least my rig was not in there. Not sure why I just didn't take everything out.Losers make excuses, Winners make it happen God is Good Beer is Great Swoopers are crazy.
jacketsdb23 49 #15 February 13, 2007 I have a Ford Explorer. So it was in the "trunk", with tinted windows, but visible with a flashlight. Also, it was exactly a smash & run. Left everything but what they could reach through the window. Guess I'll have some fun looking at pawn shops tonight.Losers make excuses, Winners make it happen God is Good Beer is Great Swoopers are crazy. snowslider 0 #17 February 13, 2007 What size are you? I bought a older jumpsuit that doesnt fit me, I'll give it to you if it will fit you. If I had an extra helmet or altimeter I would hook ya up.
jacketsdb23 49 #18 February 13, 2007 Hey I appreciate the offer. I'm 6'0 about 185lbs. I'm going to give it a couple days and see what turns up if anything. I am currently gearing up for a dumpster diving evening with a 12 pack and some buddies. Well I probably won't be jumping in any dumpsters but definitely strolling the neighborhood and see what I might find.Losers make excuses, Winners make it happen God is Good Beer is Great Swoopers are crazy. monkycndo 0 #19 February 13, 2007 Dude, sorry to hear what happened. I'd offer to help with the diving, but not in any condition. And I'm out of town. But I will take a beer.50 donations so far. snowslider 0 #20 February 14, 2007 Yeah I'm 6'0'' and about 170lbs, and it's a bit to small for me...would fit a 5'8'' - 5'11'' and about 150 to 165 lbs. Well good luck man, I hope you find your gear or catch some fucktard in the act of stealing somthing you can beat them down and feel somewhat vindicated. jacketsdb23 49 #21 February 14, 2007 Monkey, no luck with the diving. But I saved a beer for ya. Police report filed. Checking to see if any of the items can be covered under a retail insurance claim with the credit card...anyone have any experience/knowledge with this? Unfortunately don't have renters insurance and I only had liability on my car...all the gear combined (and a watch that was in there) was worth more than my car. bummerLosers make excuses, Winners make it happen God is Good Beer is Great Swoopers are crazy. johnsw71 0 #22 February 14, 2007 Marcel! Dude, that totally sucks. What areas have you covered diving? I'd be happy to take an hour or two and give you a hand. I'm actually headed over to that area shortly to run some errands (Wash/Polk), but have some extra time if you think it's worth it. John

flygirl1 0 #25 February 15, 2007 That sucks Marcel. I'm sorry that happened I don't know how they did it since it was so many years ago but, I had a my horse tack stolen out of my parents car after a horse show when I was little. The insurance company did end up paying for most of it. I hope you get it back or replaced.Fly like a girl
