Squeak 17 #1 February 16, 2007 I'm in need of a little help. One of my boys is very remedial in his Maths ability. all the work i have (even the easiest) is still above his level. Does anyone have any online resources for an innumerate 15 year old that does not pitch it towards elementary kids. This kid does not even know how to subtract. (He was meant to be Ed-Suport, but his parent would not allow it) So he has ended up in my group and I'm desperate for work at his level Any help's appreciated. You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! Have you thought of card games that require adding? Like Crib? That's how I learned to add and subtract. It was a fun way to do it. Or some board games or other games. Like Yahtzee. If you (or someone else) can spend some "free time" playing games like that with him, he won't even know he's doing math! Just a thought. Good luck to him! Sounds like he needs all the support he can get. 'Shell
hollyhjb 0 #4 February 16, 2007 Video games! Like if this gun holds 40 bullets and I shoot 5 of them at the sniper guy, how many bullets are left? This is assuming he already plays those types of games...you wouldn't want to introduce him to violence like that . If that's too violent, you could try sports stats. Like if you have to throw 3 strikes to get a batter out, and he has two strikes on him, how many more until he's out? It shouldn't be too hard to turn 'kiddie' problems into more adult ones by just looking at what he's interested in...then again you could be looking for something that's already put together as a system, and that I know nothing about. Squeak 17 #5 February 16, 2007 thanks guys, adhoc stuff I'm ok with but given I have 30ish kids all "at risk" i cant spend large amounts of time one on one, so I was hoping for something online that he can occupy his time with constructively until i can sit with him.You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS!
