Jewels 0 #1 February 17, 2007 Tonight I violated a cardinal rule and, in spite of my advanced old age of 37, went to a see-and-be-seen dance club downtown. This in itself demonstrated questionable discretion given that most people in the club seemed to be barely of legal age, but it pales in comparison to what happened next. I happened to be there with a guy who is 49. Neither of us had anything with metal buckles, chains or dog collars on, so on the whole, we already stuck out as more than a bit out of place. The club has several dance floors, each with its own particular brand of music. Now for my PSA: DO NOT EVER THINK THAT IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO ATTEMPT TO PERFORM THE CHA-CHA TO RAP MUSIC. (Not that I thought it was a good idea tonight. The person I was with, however, saw nothing wrong with it. ) I may not be able to leave the house for months.TPM Sister #
skysprite 0 #2 February 17, 2007 Screw rules! Did you enjoy any part of your evening? If so, it was worth it! And you guys gave the kiddies something to talk about! ~skysprite
Jewels 0 #3 February 17, 2007 LOL--Well, the rules were DEFINITELY by the wayside tonight. It was not the most comfortable of evenings, but to give credit where credit is due, the guy I was out with has a LOT of self confidence and is more interested in doing fun things than he is about what other people think. Those are good qualities. But I stand by my position that rap music and the cha-cha belong far away from each other! (And yes, I'm sure the young 'uns had plenty to say. One girl gave us high fives to congratulate us for being out at their club. Apparently, she thought we were doing amazingly well without our walkers. )TPM Sister #

Jewels 0 #15 February 17, 2007 Fun, yes--but not pretty! You should've seen the looks we were getting. Then again, somehow they had let in some very young kids who I am seriously could have only gotten in with fake IDs. They probably didn't know people as old as us stayed out past 8:00!
