Things No One Should EVER Do

Recommended Posts

Tonight I violated a cardinal rule and, in spite of my advanced old age of 37, went to a see-and-be-seen dance club downtown. This in itself demonstrated questionable discretion given that most people in the club seemed to be barely of legal age, but it pales in comparison to what happened next. I happened to be there with a guy who is 49. Neither of us had anything with metal buckles, chains or dog collars on, so on the whole, we already stuck out as more than a bit out of place. The club has several dance floors, each with its own particular brand of music. Now for my PSA:

DO NOT EVER THINK THAT IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO ATTEMPT TO PERFORM THE CHA-CHA TO RAP MUSIC. (Not that I thought it was a good idea tonight. The person I was with, however, saw nothing wrong with it. :S) I may not be able to leave the house for months.

LOL--Well, the rules were DEFINITELY by the wayside tonight. It was not the most comfortable of evenings, but to give credit where credit is due, the guy I was out with has a LOT of self confidence and is more interested in doing fun things than he is about what other people think. Those are good qualities. But I stand by my position that rap music and the cha-cha belong far away from each other! :S

(And yes, I'm sure the young 'uns had plenty to say. One girl gave us high fives to congratulate us for being out at their club. Apparently, she thought we were doing amazingly well without our walkers. :D)

Geez...don't you guys know that women always OVERstate their age so that you'll say that?

Sheeesh

She's gotta be 24...tops.

LOL--Now you're just trying to score points! Mind you, it's a smart man who knows to do that. ;) (I knew that there had to be an up-side to having a blurry photo!)

We ALL stared out flailingfreeflyers...it's just that some of us managed to learn how to get stable on their bellies.

My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

what's the cha cha?

ROFL--1, 2, cha-cha-cha, 3, 4, cha-cha-cha. It's something you might see on Dancing with the Stars. Trust me, it does NOT go with rap music.

The cha cha is fun. And it's fun to do with any type of music :o :D

Fun, yes--but not pretty! You should've seen the looks we were getting. Then again, somehow they had let in some very young kids who I am seriously could have only gotten in with fake IDs. They probably didn't know people as old as us stayed out past 8:00! ;)

Sounds like you had fun. Who cares what they thought. You just proved that there *is* life after 30 ;)
