Squeak 17 #3 February 18, 2007 QuoteYou could smoke them out. good idea I'll start a fire in the wall cavity that should do it I actually rang (called) a Bee guy, and he asked me what they were doing, then explained some bee behaviour to me and told me what I can do to make then go away and not kill them No Bees were killed during this endeavourYou are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! cjsgrlsx3 0 #4 February 18, 2007 A nieghbor of ours cut down a tree and a swarm of honey bees came to our yard. It was huge. They stayed for 24 hours and left the next afternoon to their new home! Kind of cool.
Misternatural 0 #5 February 18, 2007 Squeak, I'm surprised the bee guy didn't come get them, I don't know what type of climate you're in and depending on the season, swarms are a valuable way to increase the # of hives in an apiary. Have you considered beekeeping yourself? from what I gather- you're an educator- bees are not only an interesting and educational hobby for the young and old but they make lots of honey if cared for properly. Think of all the mead you could make. mmmmm mead. Insects, the original pilots.Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires. Armour666 0 #6 February 18, 2007 thats what I was going to say find local bee keeper and they will pick up for free and take them to start another hive. I did this in the past was kinda cool to watch the guy come out no gear or anything pick his way through the swam and pick out the queen then put in in a box then left the box in out in the yard for the day then cam an picked up the newly filled hive.SO this one time at band camp.....
