Wonderful 0 #1 November 22, 2006 Well as everyone knows absolutely forbidden in the US according to Strong's SB #22. What about those of us in Canada and other countries that the long arm of the law (FAA) can't reach us? I know there are people who have put other tandem mains in their dual hawks, hell there is an ad in the classifieds from Australia that says they want Strong rated people and jump mainly Icarus and Hop canopies. Quote That was the case during the Tandem Exemption period, but not any longer as far as the FAA is concerned. Strong still does not recommend other canopies to be used in their system, but it is not a violation of any FAA regulation or policy if you choose to install and use something else that is compatible. riggerrob 643 #3 November 24, 2006 First of all, you would have to stick with risers, drogues and d-bags made by Strong, to ensure compatibility. Secondly, you could only substitute canopies with similar pack volume to SET 400 or SET 360. There are several other complex compatibility questions that are best answered by a Master Rigger who has worked on a variety of different tandem rigs. As for the legalese, Strong Enterprises have already been sued once because people operated their equipment - without following instructions. That hurt so bad, they never want to get dragged back into court.
