RkyMtnHigh 0 #1 February 25, 2007 Golden Beets are my new favorite veggie! Had them with my Valentine's day dinner at Seasons 52, so tonight decided to steam some with salt, pepper, little amount of chicken broth and roast some with garlic, lemon juice, and a little olive oil...both preparations were delicious! _________________________________________
Gene03 0 #2 February 25, 2007 Stop it, just had supper earlier and now munching on some popcorn. You had to go and mention Golden beets. They both sound great.“The only fool bigger than the person who knows it all is the person who argues with him. RkyMtnHigh 0 #3 February 25, 2007 MMMMM...I also had my favorite French greens for a salad, Mache (pronounced Mosh) with a lemon vinegrette. Along with the beets, I made asparagus, carrots, and portabello mushrooms in both steamed and roasted versions. Yum! Yum! _________________________________________
Gene03 0 #4 February 25, 2007 What does Mache taste like? I've tried growing it one year in my garden but no luck.“The only fool bigger than the person who knows it all is the person who argues with him. RkyMtnHigh 0 #5 February 25, 2007 They grow in small clusters...small leaves, much smaller than baby spinach..close to the size of dandilion leaves...nutty flavor...really good with balsalmic vinegrette or lemon vinegrette..a chopped boiled egg is a nice complement as well...along with grape tomatoes _________________________________________
Gene03 0 #6 February 25, 2007 Sounds like it may go well with sorrel. Looks like I'm ordering more seed. Thanks.“The only fool bigger than the person who knows it all is the person who argues with him.
