My job is in jeopardy?

Recommended Posts

So, I'm taking a break out of a hectic day to just flat out bitch.

Let me describe my boss' work week this week: Monday-showed up for morning meeting, left before noon because she was sick with a sinus infection.

Tuesday-called in sick.

Wednesday-out of the facility all day for a corporate team building session.

Thursday- Came in late because daughter had doctor's appointment.

Friday- Came in for morning meeting, first words out of her mouth were, "I'm not staying, I'm going to throw up from this migraine." Hung out for an hour, left saying she would be back. Called at 9:15 and said she would be in as soon as she 'switched vehicles' because of our horrible (not) snowstorm. Now it's almost 4pm and she hasn't shown up and hasn't called.

So, of course, all week I have been doing her job and now I'll have to come in on the weekend to try and get mine caught up.

This is not an atypical week. I can't remember the last time she came anywhere close to a 40 hour week (she's salary, while I'm hourly).

Yet she has had the gall to tell me that she's going to take a 'leave of absence' in June, not planning on coming back, and she has been protecting my job for me. Her words, "If a great offer comes along, take it, because I can't guarantee you'll have a job once I'm gone."

That's it. That's my rant. I'm just so disgusted with this shit. I don't want a solution, there's no one over her head I can go to without risking my job immediately, and I am able to come to work and do our jobs well and keep my attitude about her under wraps. But for once, I just want to publicly state that THIS IS FUCKED UP!!!!!!>:( [/rant]

Thanks, and have a great afternoon.;)

Stay calm.
If she continues in this fashion, You'll probably have her job soon.

You know all the things I'm thinking about that woman and none of them are particularly nice. >:( Let's just hope that her work habits are as transparent from above her on the corporate ladder as they are from below. They're lucky to have you there and I hope they know it--where "they" means more than the boss you cover for day in and day out.

Hey Vonn take it above her head if your job is on the line anyway you have nothing to lose write everything down and take it to someone who has the power to do somthing about it.
You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky)

I have plenty to lose. This way I have til june to get the job situation figured out. And it's quite possible that she's just full of shit and is feeling the pressure because it's becoming blatantly obvious that I've covered her arse more than a few times.

I may have nothing to worry about jobwise. But I know other issues are more pressing right now, and if I get bogged down in worrying about this situation, I will lose sight of the other things I need to take care of.

Thanks Jewels. You have an idea of how long this has been going on.

I'm ok, really. Just felt the urge to vent there for a minute or two.

She did make what I think is one fatal mistake: she hired the wife of our regional rehab director. If she thinks nothing is getting reported to him, she's crazy.

I'm just letting her fuck it up for herself.

sounds like your work product is suffering due to her and she is using you!!! sounds like you covered for her a lot and the perception may be you poor work she had to keep defending you as a way to save her ass. Time to have a detaild talk with some one on what exactly is your job description and roles of responsability. and have the truth come out on whats been happening.
SO this one time at band camp.....

I don't think anyone is questioning the quality of sartre's work. As I understand it, it's more a question of the boss walking away and leaving sartre to clean up the mess--if she can--yet again. At least the problem isn't poor performance!!
