Jerry E. said he left Pell Lake this morning and counted 23 cars in the ditch before merging into Hy 43, a 8-10 mile stretch. His observations; people driving too fast and following too close. Seen one spin out into the ditch in front of him. People slowing down to geek the cars in the ditch also. On the way home he only counted 12, not he same cars though. Ahhhh yes the tow truck drivers had a very good day. Have to check out the Rockford Channel 23 traffic cams. Great entertainment. One night some kid was drunked up and balled up his snowmobile cruising the median on 80 ...at close to triple digits. Two of us in wreckers are helping the state coppers clean up the mess, got the spotlights shining trying to find all the pieces...this frozen 'Copsicle' comes over to me and asks what I have in my hand... I was driving my big bad ass 1964 Buick Special. If any of the newer cars had the misfortune to play pinball with me, they were in serious trouble! Luckily, I saw a man standing out there flagging people to slow down. Sure enough, 18 wheelers jack-knifed everywhere and cars on their sides or upside down. Only one death though, in a tiny car that was crushed between two 18 wheelers. I mean the car was like 2 feet long!
