Yea yea I'm not going to post...;) but i just had to say:

CONGRATULATIONS NIGHTINGALE !!!

After 10 years of school, she's almost done. She is in the middle of state bar exam for being an attorney/lawyer.

For all the great advice she gave, all the links she posted to good advice, and all those who love to argue with her in Speaker's Corner, we should take a minute to congratulate her and wish her luck for this long awaited accomplishment.

I'm very proud of you, Kris. May your exam go well and also your new upcoming career. You rock.:)

Ok ok I'm leaving.:P

You don't know it, and neither does she, neither do most, but that's pretty damned mean. :S

She won't get the results until after 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 25. That's three months she'll be spending worrying about it. I'm telling you from experience - it's hell. She will be incapable of truly accepting appreciation for the time being.

I'll put it this way - the number 1 most dominant feeling among most people I spoke to about getting the results (and passing) was not joy, happiness, or giddiness - it was relief. Pure, profound, complete and total relief.

It is SO distressing, that nobody calls each other. I had three people total that I agreed "let's let each other know." One of them did not have her name on the list. Sarah was absolutely devastated. At 2:30 in the morning, she called and said she passed. SHe was on the list, just entered her name wrong. The next night, I called another friend (not on the list) to wish her a happy birthday. She said, "You have nerves of steel. But, I passed, so it is indeed a happy birthday."

My wife tells me she had an agreement between her friends to all meet at a place if they passed. SHe was the only one there.[:/] Nobody called. Nobody talked. One of them had disappeared, his wife telling mine that he left that night to go somewhere for a few days and wouldn't answer the phone. On Sunday morning, the results became public. The wife started receiving congratulatory calls. The guy apparently called her a few hours later saying he got the message and would be home from the coast in a few hours.

I'm telling you, folks - it ain't no fun to be involved with.

Kris - just take solace in the fact that you did better than you think you did. You will spend the next three months carefully analyzing every mistake you made, and some you didn't make, but in hindsight THINK you made. It's normal.

My wife is hotter than your wife.

I watched a very good friend of mine go through this whole process. I gave her the same space. I didn't ask anything, in fact after she took the bar it was not discussed again till she called me to tell me she was now my lawyer :D

I have to add, she is the smartest book smart person I have ever met, and one hell of a lawyer :)

Its the same way with the Nurse's State Board Exam. My mom was so anxious for weeks and then when her letter came in the mail she ran everyone out of the house so she could open it alone to find out if she got her RN liscense or not. When we heard the squeals of joy and crying coming from the house we kne it was safe to come back in.:S

I understand, where you are coming from. Years ago, when I took the written test for my Senior ticket, I had to wait... 120-days for the rsults! During that time, I went over every question (that I could remember) and tried to recall how I answered them. I drove myself nuts. When I finally got my results/ticket, I thought I was going to crack. I had missed 1-question! I can still, tell you that question... and correct answer!:D I'm sure, that is only slightly, what someone like yourself or Kris experience(d). You folks put in more time, energy, blood, sweat & tears than we'll ever know.

Best of luck, Kris!! Love ya!! :)
Kris is such a selfless, caring person. In the middle of all this stress, she stopped to help a fellow 'commer with some legal advice.

Such a gem of a woman. :)

Just to clarify, I believe the first words of my PM to you were "this is not legal advice" =p

I just gave you some general impressions of the way the special ed system works and referred you to some places where you could find a lawyer and get legal advice.

edited for a really stupid grammatical error.

Well, I'm going to be taking a bar exam in july no matter what, so while I certainly hope I passed (and I have a pretty good feeling about it so far... the questions were easier than the ones from bar review), I'm still going to be doing it again in six months. If I pass California, I'm taking New York in july, and if I don't, I'm doing california again. Regardless, I still need to keep studying, and I do appreciate the sentiment behind Cocheese's post. =)

I think anyone willing to put up with law school and the bar must be at least a little nuts. :P

As is anyone willing to put up with someone who's taking it. ;)

Well we already knew that didn't we.:|

We need another picture tour!

This time we need to have more beer!:D

Well, if you were completely sane, you'd be boring and I wouldn't be dating you.:P

And thank you so much for your support through all of this! I have the most wonderful boyfriend on the planet!

When I told a good friend of mine, also an attorney, that my son was taking the bar, his response was about his own experience. He said that none of the answers were wrong, some were just "more right". He said that several of the Harvard educated lawyers taking the exam were frustrated, upset and pulling their hair out during the exam. They were in fact, taking the exam for the second time.
When I talked to my son after the fact, he told me about the extreme street repair they were doing right outside the window of the exam room in downtown Chicago.
He did great, and so will these ladies. Good genes, good concentration, and GOOD FRIENDS!
Congratulations for getting to this point! We'll drink one to you at the DZ when you tell us how terrific you did!
