bbarnhouse 0 #1 August 12, 2002 What a cool cat Pat Works is. Imagine a dude with over 2,000 round jumps.....explains why he always lands on his butt. Pat spent 4 days at Oregon Freedom Jam giving lectures on freeflying, jumping on nearly every load, sharing his love and enthusiasm for the sport, being inviting and inclusive. There is much to be said for someone that will jump not only with the best, but those with only a few jumps in their log book. I spent many hours chatting and listening to this "relic" as he prefers to call himself (don't dare call him a dinosaur). I even managed to teach him a thing or two much to my great surprise! We talked about the future of the sport, things he would like to see, things I would like to try. He asked me some thought provoking questions such as......what do you say when? My answers made him chuckle and generally ended up with......"Good point, I'll have to use that!" I gave him some things to use in the future.....he gave me things to use now, it was an equal exchange of sharing and it left me with greater understanding. I asked Pat what was the one thing that irritated him the most about todays jumper and his answer was:'They think cause I'm old I can't fly, and treat me as if I can't fly my slot, explaining to me all that I need to do to get in my place.Truth is, I can fly anything they throw at me but sometimes they just need to see with their own eyes.....something about judging a book by its cover would be fitting."(He chuckles) I left Freedom Jam with Pat on my mind, and a smile in my heart. I know that he understood all that I had to convey. If you have the opportunity to spend time with Pat in the future, if he asks you to jump, or maybe to sit for a chat, take the opportunity to do so. You will be so glad that you did. He is a bright light and a kindred spirit. If you havent read any of his work, PM me for the website. Cheers!

ltdiver 3 #13 March 4, 2007 Thanks for lunch today and the jumps on other weekends, my dear friend. Still working on your 'easy' freefly exit and am improving. Still not perfect but at least not exploding apart like before... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
