First time in the US First time jumping at bigger dropzones First time jumping from bigger airplanes First time (for me) hopefully jumping with more than one person / 2-way First time .... uuuh How is the beer price over there? Zeppo 0 #2 January 8, 2007 camping out tips...I just have one. Camp Warm. It bit me in the ass over christmas, I was blown away at how cold it can get throughout the night, and get so nice during the day. Make sure your sleeping bag can handle the cold. An air mattress will likely be a good idea too. Good Luck, have fun. Where you going...Skydive City???What goes up, must come DOWN!!!

voltage 0 #7 January 8, 2007 ah how will the weather be around March/April ? We germans are used to cold weather Not sure yet where we are going. I read that in Z-Hills there is a 200way camp so maybe not the best time to start when you are coming from a cessna DZ

I read that in Z-Hills there is a 200way camp so maybe not the best time to start when you are coming from a cessna DZ We Canadians aren't too shy about cold weather either . I just went there expecting nice warm weather, day and night, and I nearly froze my nuts off the first night. I got about 3 hours sleep overall. I had 26 jumps from a cessna dropzone when I first went there, and I didn't have a problem. The only new thing was the amount of traffic, but if you pay attention, then that won't be a problem. The main issue that I see is that 200ways will ground airplanes as they wait for people. with 20ways or less, they can use one aircraft, anytime there needs to be more than one, you can expect some delays. If you happen to squeeze in on a load with the 200 way, you'll definitely need to watch out for traffic. But quite simply the best way to avoid traffic...pull high. I've never been to a bigway camp, so maybe some experts will have better advice. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
skymama 37 #10 January 9, 2007 Since you are going to be camping, I recommend that you visit as many of the dropzones that you can since they are relatively close to one another. March is a great time to visit; if you go to the beach you'll probably see a bunch of scantily-clad Spring Breakers there! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
mlofty 0 #11 January 9, 2007 Forget Florida..... Nothing but geriatrics, swamps, mosquitoes and in-bread toothless bastards. Come a couple of hours West to Arizona (at least you'll eliminate the swamps and mosquitoes) March in Arizona is Fucking awesome! most days temperatures don't make it over 110F... Just Joking weather is great! Skydive Arizona in Eloy (my home DZ) has great facilities including a restaurant, bar, pool, gear shop, laundry and free camping area.
