jumper03 0 #1 March 5, 2007 52,000 mph- Thats how fast the New Horizons craft is cruising along at now in its mission to visit pluto. The craft got a boost from Jupiter using the planets gravity to up it's speed by 9000 mph. Got me thinking - If I track towards Skinny, could I use him as a gravity assist to break the speed skydiving record? Science needs to know...Scars remind us that the past is real

My thinking is that the gavitational pull from Skinny would be too great for you to slingshot off of. Which means you will die a horrible death when you impact him You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing? PLFKING 4 #6 March 6, 2007 QuoteGot me thinking - If I track towards Skinny, USPA rules state that, as a C-licensed jumper, you have to deploy no closer than 2000 feet from him. jumper03 0 #7 March 6, 2007 QuoteMy thinking is that the gavitation pull from Skinny owuld be too great for you to slingshot off of. Which means you will die a horrible death when you impact him well, new horizons didn't crash into jupiter...partly because the approach speed was so fast. So I need to line up jumpers in order of weight, and track by the lightest first until I get to Skinny in a full bore track to swing around and have a crack at the sound barrier....Scars remind us that the past is real
