How many days in each month reminder trick

Isnt there some kind of way a person can quickly determine how many days are in each month when I dont have a calender handy? I remember something about the knuckles on your hand...?

I always have the say the little rhyme:

Thirty days have september, april, june and november. All the rest have 31. (except February - 28)

yeah i know the last bit doesn't rhyme, i can never remember how it goes, but the first bit gives you pretty much everything you need.

At least this way you don't look like a goose with your hands together counting your knuckles every time you're trying to work out the days in a month eh squeak

Squeak had it right, I'm just going to clean it up a little for clarification.

the problem with the ryhme is you have to rememebr it. a lot of kids don't, but they always remember to have their 2 hands with htem

Why can't we take one day from two of the months with 31 days and give them to February? On leap year we could have 31 days in February. That way all of the months would have 30 or 31 days instead of 28, 29, 30 or 31.
