I Need Some PARTY Ideas, Please!!

Recommended Posts

Joe is 'retiring' from the army in 50 days!!! I am going to have a HUGE retirement party for him! B|B|B|

Here's what I was thinking...maybe renting out a small community center or something and making a potluck (after all, he is army...we are broke. :|:D) I could do invitations with little green army men attached to 'em...the toy soldiers you buy in packs at like Toys R Us.

Ok, so we'd have food and a place...um, what then? This part is going to include all of the family and business partners so it needs to be a bit 'conservative', y'know?

-But then...i was thinking about having a second invitation to a select group back to our house later on that night for a drunken poker party. Joe LOVES poker parties...and we like to partake in the beverages now and then...:)

-but that's all I got. :S Any ideas?

How about doing a "this is your life" theme..maybe try and get ahold of some of his buddies from over the years....maybe get a slide show or power point show together with pics from when he first enlisted and then from over the years in the army and home life...:)

i know in my local area there is a group of guys (mostly firemen or retirees) that play bag pipes, and they are always up for practicing, or playing for a small fee (get the right ones that could be as simple as free beer and food), and are you in a location that is feasable for a demo jump, im sure you could get your local DZ to work something out for you, put those two together if you get the right prices and you have one hell of a talked about party that didnt cost you too much

and no questions asked --- horseshoe and badmitten tournaments (do randomn team selection gets people hanging out and talking to someone they may not have otherwise)

whatever you choose hope it goes well
blue skies!!!

not yet...I need to get ahold of them without joe knowing. I think I'll send them my dz.com email address...only problem is I'll have a tough time guessing which ones he'd want there and which ones he wouldn't, ya know? :S

If your broke this won't work but just before my 4 yrs in the AF was up I attended a retirement party for a CMSGT E9 His wife had a Harley delivered to the party for him.

Had to be one of the coolest things I ever saw.

Well a good party in the eyes of University of Florida students is as follows...

-Many kegs of the cheapest beer available (usually Natty Light)

-About 500 jello shots of varying flavors

-As many scantily clad co-eds as you can bring together

-A ping pong table for the Beer Pong games

- music that is loud as hell

If you do these things then it will be, at least in my eyes, a sweet ass party. Maybe your husband will agree. Good Luck.

Thanks sweetie, but we're a little too old for that. :D

Ping-pong, cheap beer, and Girls Gone Wild is early 20's.

We're early 30's; we play strip poker, drink imports, and smoke cubans. B|:P:D

If he likes poker parties, why not have a Vegas theme?

-Yeah, but I can't fit into one of those feather head piece get-ups. [:/]

:D:D:D

That's a good idea!

The whole separating out the 'proper' party from the drunken malay party thing is going to be so tricky though!!
