Sane 0 #1 March 7, 2007 I've wanted to skydive for as long as I can remember, and I'm finally old enough to do my AFF!... ..but... 1)I only have $3000 in the bank, and don't have a job (YET! I'm going looking tomorrow). 2)I have to rely on my mum and dad to take me to the DZ, which is about 1 hour from where I live. So, Should I..... Hambone 0 #2 March 7, 2007 I would say that you should save what you have till you get a job, then get a car, and use that to save for AFF. Skydiving is not a necessity, and will only cost you money in the begining. After you finish AFF you are going to want gear, and jumps, then there are boogies and more jumps and more gear, and ratings. It all costs money. So don't think that the expense ends once you are off of AFF. But thats just my 2 centsYeah...You need to grow up. -Skymama
CSpenceFLY 1 #3 March 7, 2007 I voted for the BASE rig and hookers But seriously,Get a car and a job than worry about skydiving.

popsjumper 2 #5 March 7, 2007 Point to ponder: If you skydive, you will soon have no bank account. Since you live in Aussieland, I'd go for the hookers. Get a car, a job and get settled then go skydiving. My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. Sane 0 #7 March 7, 2007 That's what I was afraid you would all say Thanks for the input, I really knew the answer to that already. I just don't want to put off jumping any longer than I have to
IanHarrop 42 #8 March 7, 2007 Screw it, go jump. Money is always going to get spent somewhere - spend it on something you enjoy. If you really need a car buy something that'll get you to the dropzone and back but not much more. You can pick up something cheaper than $3000. Who knows you may make a few jumps and decide skydiving is not for you, but you'll never know until you try."Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

cjsgrlsx3 0 #14 March 7, 2007 I don't think it's that easy. Wouldn't you need a job to pay for half the gas? And when you owe beer. Who will buy that for you? Get a job at the dropzone and have mom and dad drive you to and from work!
peregrinerose 0 #15 March 7, 2007 Get the car so you can get to the job. Preferrably a job at the DZ The sky isn't going anywhere. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

Sane 0 #19 March 8, 2007 I've got a rough plan that I can follow nowI'll get a job and work my ass off, while buying some cheap transportation. Then once I save up enough to do my AFF again I will go for it and become a packer.. I will hopefully be able to work enough to afford a few jumps a month with gear hire and the fuel used to get to the DZ, and and as winter rolls around I'll start saving for my own rig... You can be a packer BEFORE you jump at many DZs. If it's a busy DZ you can make a decent amount of money... About $15 to $20 per hour... (about $5 per pack job) You should talk to the DZO (Drop Zone Owner) at the location you plan to jump at and see if they'd be interested... You might be able to kill two birds with one stone.Gravity Waits for No One.
