It starts that way, as the battery gets lower you do have to adjust it while it is flying.
McDuck 0 #152 March 13, 2006 I don't know if it was the large landing area at Raeford, the fact that I've actually been practicing from time to time or some other less obvious factor, but I actually flew my Challenger out at the DZ this weekend without crashing it, getting it stuck in an obstacle or busting a wing. Of course, I wasn't pulling any any aerial maneuvers more intense than a steep diving turn. kevin922 0 #153 March 13, 2006 So I broke my tail boom a couple of days ago and went into hobby town to get a replacement... at 4.00 a pop i feel it is pretty pricey for a graphite rod. So, I picked up a 1.50 almuminum (I think it is aluminum) piece that was a perfect fit! They sold them for general purpose building (trains, planes, etc). Threw some super glue on it and shoved it in and away I went. Much cheaper than replacing the normal tail.

The thin one (which is easily bendable) is lighter but the thick one is either the same weight or slightly heavier - but much more durable. The blade had no problems flying with it. SkymonkeyONE 4 #160 March 14, 2006 My rush parts for the Blade got here yesterday (feathering spindle), so I am all set to carry it to Dublin and wreck the shit out of it. I plan on bringing three planes with me. Anyone else bringing their's to the boogie for weather days? Chuck

diverds 0 #168 March 19, 2006 I finally broke down and bought a Blade CP. My first heli and damn is it cool. Flew great right out of the box, but I only got about 5 minutes before the battery was dead. Is this normal for the stock battery or is it not lasting long because I have the training gear on its adding weight? Skydive Radio

SkymonkeyONE 4 #173 March 23, 2006 I have a three-cell 2100 maH Lipo in my Blade CP (the whirling death device!). It will fly, or attempt to fly, for over 20 minutes with the LiPo. Talk about COMEDY, you should have seen Kevin (McDuck) and I at the Dublin boogie! I was flying my Aerobird Extreme through the tent/vendor area on Thursday morning having a blast. Landed right in front of my camper on the little traffic road. Kevin goes and fetches his Challenger and THE SHIT WAS ON. I launched it for him and made sure it was in trim and then handed the radio off to him. "UP, UP, UP!!" "Left! Right! Pull UP!" It was nuts. He finally death-spiralled through some trees and into the side of a camper! That was lovely, but not nearly as lovely as him flying that thing straight into the side of a hangar! "Up!!!! Whoa!" Blam! Amazingly, the plane flew immediately after application of one small piece of electrical tape. I had my Blade CP there and had the crowd roaring in laughter and running for their lives as I tried in vain to control the thing. I spun the armature in the tail motor, so it would not trim out, no matter how much I adjusted the pot. The tail motor was the only spare part I didn't bring, so I said fuck it and tried to fly it anyway. It was a HOOT! People were running for their lives. Of course I was trying to fly the thing right in front of my camper. Ultimately, I only snapped one landing gear and beat up, but did not break, one set of main rotors. Ask Kevin how funny that shit was. I flew my P-51 a few times much to the pleasure of the crowd. I can fly the ass out of that plane now. Same with my Extreme. I wrecked the piss out of my modded Stryker at dusk on Thursday. I simply could not tell if it was coming or going; inverted or upright. I snapped the nose off in a wreck and then put it away. One minute with some CA and a bit of gaffer tape had it back in the air today. I fly the hell out of that one now too. My buddy Chris Young pounded my Extreme in twice today. It was his first flight, so I, of course, handed him the radio with the plane in Pro mode. "UP, UP, UP!!!" "Right!" He snapped a main wing and that was it for that plane today. Good RC indoctrination if you ask me. I was showing off with my P-51 and my battery came undone. No-control death spiral from about 75 feet. Prop and wing done. I swore I wouldn't do it again, but I guess I am going to go buy another wing tomorrow. I already have a prop. Chuck
Ron 10 #174 March 28, 2006 Just bought ANOTHER heli. Bought a Trex last night and stayed up till 3AM putting it together. It was supposed to be my vacation week project...Killed that plan on the first day. I guess its off to the hobby shop to get the gyro, servos...ect and fly!!! So now I have: 10 planes up to 1/3 scale. A Blade (that the cats hate ) A shogun Heli (That I will be selling) A Trex (That built way to fast...now I have to spend more money) A Sceadu .50 Which flies great. I am also looking at a .90 sized heli. I mean, the crash into the camper through the tree was funny, but not nearly as hilarious as the high-speed dock with the hanger while Chuck was repeating one word over and over, faster and faster: "up, Up, UP, UPUPUPUPUPUPUPUP" I actually ordered a new fuselage for the Challenger. It was more tweaked than I thought. I'll scavenge it for parts, but the rest is yours if you want it, Chuck. The board and servos are still good. It gave me something to strive for and was drawing quite a crowd. Hopefully I'll at least have an Extreme, and the necesasry skills to make it last longer than 3-2 minutes, by next Dublin.
