Mad dogs and English women

Ok its been a while since ive had a dog and the last was with me for 12 years.
I went to get milk from the shops and came home with a 15month old Staffy whome ive called Jake ( AKA the love Bugg )
Hes pure muscle and not sure how to controle it, he pushed me over on the floor last night and jumped on me to chew my ears, dives on me on the sofa to do the same, oh and my cats not too happy either.

Any tips would be great.
