dorbie 0 #1 March 13, 2007 Check out the Swiss Alps in Google Earth. They have high resolution imagery AND terrain elevation for them now with good registration, it looks fantastic. It shows what the technology can do. Bern is now 25cm resolution too, and the color management of the content has been done really well. It really shows the potential when you have the right data. Eventually the whole Earth will be like this or better in Google Earth, and available instantly to anyone.

Snowwhite 0 #4 March 14, 2007 I read your title, and it reminded me of a guy in high school, who used to ask me that regularly. Then again in college, then again after I got married. Geez, I never answered him ONCE and he never got the picture. But your reason was much better than his.skydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com

piisfish 140 #6 March 14, 2007 had a quick look before leaving for work. Was quite impressed by the quality, but decieved by the age of the pictures. I checked my house and the field in front (which you see on googleearth) is now covered by houses since around 4-5 years.scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
dorbie 0 #7 March 14, 2007 Quotecan you see the exit points of the swiss valley ? If I understand your question yes, the entire country is in at 0.5 meter, cities at 0.25 m (less for terrain but as high as you'll need and at the limit of registration). It's really incredible, check it out. The French side is also in but from a different data source The French stuff looks a bit murky when you compare Argentiere & Chamonix to Trient & Vernayaz. The Swiss data is incredible, it's pretty amazing to see something like this captured to this quality on this scale. Bern is even higher resolution but obviously not very mountainous which is what really pushes the Alps over the top visually. The glaciers look incredible. Check it out.
