Icon134 0 #1 March 17, 2007 Do any of you use either of these GPS fitness devices? I was thinking of getting one for when I start Running again this spring. http://www.garmin.com/products/forerunner205/ http://www.garmin.com/products/forerunner305/ The basic difference between the two is that the 305 has a Heart rate monitor built into it.Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife... ntrprnr 0 #2 March 17, 2007 Assuming you don't live in a city, the 305 is a great unit. If you do, it's pointless. I get reception on maybe 2 miles of the 6 in central park. But if you're running out in the countryside or somewhere outside of a main city, you'll love it. Totally accurate. Spring for the HRM. Worth it._______________ "Why'd you track away at 7,000 feet?" BlueSBDeath 2 #3 March 18, 2007 My wife and I each have a 305, we love them. We are trail and suburb runners so they work great. However; my wife is an ultra distance runner and it only stays on for about 10 hours before needing a charge. DiggerDan 0 #5 March 18, 2007 The Forerunner 205 and 305 are awesome! I live in a very residential area where my Forerunner 201 would lose signal quite often, but with my 205, I NEVER do. It is amazingly accurate and a great training tool with so much info and feedback. The new design is sweet, and the ability to have 4 different data screens displayed simultaneously is fantastic. But if you live in a city with tall buildings, then NO personal GPS will work very well. Spring for the 305. Even if you only use the HR monitor once in a great while, it is worth it at time of purchase for the small additional cost. The 205/305 are a must-have for any runner! Just way too much great info and motivation on your wrist for a small amount of money to not have one, IMO.
