adventurechick 0 #1 October 30, 2006 I put my rig in my flight instructor's car, (which was then parked in a locked hangar to protect it) right before our flight lesson. When I came down from my lesson, I got my rig out of his car and there was an oil spot on my front , main tucktab. The rig is with my rigger now for a reserve repack and he said he would try to get it out... but does anyone know of some miracle way for the oil to come out of the front tab? skybeergodd 0 #2 October 30, 2006 generally a lite concentration of woollite and water with a soft bistled brush will work wonders.
masterrig 1 #3 October 31, 2006 For an oil spot, 'spot' cleaning with varsol or charcoal lighter fluid, use a small amount with a soft bristled brush. A used, clean toothbrush works well. Work the spot, not harshly, with the brush and fluid. daub with a clean dry cloth. Turning the cloth to be sure to get any excess fluid. Let air dry. The varsol, charcoal starter fluid will not damage the material of the container flap or the stiffener. I've done this process many times with good results. The varsol, is an oil-based product as is the Nylon material used for the container. Chuck

darkwing 5 #5 October 31, 2006 If oil was seriously bad for gear, all of us who jumped in the DC-3 and Twin Beech days would be dead. It is really a cosmetic issue I think. Do what was advised above. -- Jeff My Skydiving History
