ACMESkydiver 0 #1 March 20, 2007 I've been talking about this dog 'Bear' in THIS THREAD. He is SUCH a good boy! He's gorgeous and huge...he would be SO GOOD with a family with kids age 7 or older or just with a couple. This guy is super friendly and has a huge, deep voice when somebody knocks on the door, but other than that, Bear hasn't barked at anything; dogs, cats, other people. Even the yappy dogs around our house didn't bother him a bit. He's 3 years old, about 100 pounds, 1/2 Golden Retriever, 1/2 Lab and in the Puyallup area (about 50 miles southeast of Seattle). We can't have him because he is too confused by our severely Autistic twin sons' behavior; we made an agreement with his original owners that if we couldn't keep him, we'd bring him right back. He's totally housetrained...let's see; I've had him alone in the house when I took my son to the doc just now for about an hour and a half, and he didn't get into anything or go potty. He really is a good boy, it just kills us to have to give him back. He rides in a car/truck really well...the owner is giving his travel kennel with him. We just bought him some cool toys, so he'll have those too. He is a BIG doggie and needs lots of room, and some people to play with. He loves to play when you get him riled up, but he's very calm and mellow inside... Anyhoo, PM me if you're interested and I'll forward on the owner's info. they are very adament about Bear going to a good home, and well they should be. This dude is tops. Here are the only negatives we saw while he was here: He still has a tiny bit of an ear infection that we have been using ointment on. He does seem to have a little bit of sensitive skin. He was not dew-clawed, so he still has those if aesthetics are important to you...he's shedding a bunch right now, but Petco said they could fix him up with an anti-shed grooming session. I've only had him here since Sunday night, so he is still 'nervous' about his surroundings and people coming into our house...he has settled down quite a bit in the last 2 1/2 days though already. I tell ya if the twins weren't autistic, this would be the dog for our family; but the boys like poking at his feet pads, yelling in his face (happy, but loud) and squeezing his legs. these aren't things typical kids do, so the poor doggie is confused. Let me know. Edit to add: A very generous 'commer has offered to kick in $100 for gas money if anyone is interested in Bear but lives a ways away to come drive up and see him. Thank you for your generosity, Cheddar-boy. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.

Dang he's just so cute laying on my couch (I know I shouldn't let him lay on the couch, but the couch is beat to hell, and he's going home today, so he can do what he wants, dang it! ) ...and he is taking up 2/3rd of a full size couch. He is such a big beautiful boy!! ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.

He does seem to have a little bit of sensitive skin. FYI, those are signs of allergies. It could be food or environment. I have a dog that has allergies to food and environment and I give him a weekly shot Most times it's food allergies, and can be fixed with a good diet. I suggest this food. There was no need to worry about the dog/cat food scare since all animals in my house are on PHD May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. ACMESkydiver 0 #5 March 20, 2007 His owners said the vet thought the skin irritation might be a mild allergy, so the vet has him on this: Natural Balance Allergy formula dog food. It makes him have stinky toots, as my daughter says. -That's another down side -he has stinky toots. But it's great if you ALSO have stinky toots, because you can always blame it on Bear. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
