Nataly 38 #1 March 20, 2007 Hello everyone! My friend is travelling to the States (NY) in a couple of weeks and wants to rent a car. He's under 25 and it looks like it's gonna cost an arm and a leg.. Any tips from all you travellers out there would be very welcome! tetra316 0 #2 March 20, 2007 There is a car company that has a lower age limit, 21. I rented from them when I was back east but cannot remember who they are. It was one of the major ones though.
Sutton 0 #3 March 20, 2007 Well, you said NY, if he is going to be in New York City, getting a car there will be pointless. Most people who live there dont even have cars. Just use the Taxi's.-Sutton
Nataly 38 #4 March 20, 2007 d'uh!! Even I know that!! No, he's landing in NY, but will be driving around quite a bit--including going up to Niagara.. So taxi not really an option!!! Sutton 0 #5 March 20, 2007 Quoted'uh!! Even I know that!! No, he's landing in NY, but will be driving around quite a bit--including going up to Niagara.. So taxi not really an option!!! ha, I was just checking. Priceline.com does comparisions I beleive, and Avis is quite popular aswell. As for the age issue, where really is no way of getting by it unfortunately. I'm only 21 and I had to deal with the same issue a few months back-Sutton
unformed 0 #6 March 20, 2007 Enterprise charges an additional $10/day for those under 25. All of the other ones charge $25/day. The NE also has a solid rail system. It would be better if he found ways to travel without having to rent a car. This ad space for sale.
JohnMitchell 16 #7 March 20, 2007 Use mass transit in town, then train out of town, then rent a car out in countryside. Fewer days used, no city-driving hassles, and usually lower rates away from the big cities and airports. I've never driven in NY, London, Paris, or Rome. Much better to take the Tube.
