Does anyone else have problems with Square ones web page?

Hmm. I haven't had that problem. Maybe it's you.... :P

Don't know about camera helmet accessories. If you don't like Square One's website, you should try Sunshine Factory's. Or maybe it's just me.

I don't like that when I search for an item I.E. camera helmet, I can only go view one at a time. I can not click on the Camera helmet button to view them all. I have to use the drop down box to view a specific one.

I just placed a $200 order with Para gear b/c their website works.

I'm a local So. Cal jumper, so I generally deal with Square 1 in person at Perris. But I've never had anything less than complete satisfaction with them on everything from a custom built jumpsuit to a measly closing loop.

I wish people would think five or six times before they go trashing reputable businesses. Sure we all get frustrated sometimes, but they're the people to talk to about it, you don't need to assasinate their character in a skydiving forum. If they were THAT bad, they wouldn't have lasted for over 16 years. And if you wanna spend your dough someplace else, go for it, that's the American way too.

But next time you get mad, go kick a fire hydrant instead.

I don't think he was necessarily trashing their business, but rather letting them know through a complaint that they were losing (not lossing) his business because their website might need some attention on functionality. Look at it as customer feedback.

I too have dealt with Square 1 and the only problem that I have is that I feel their used gear is way overpriced. But dealing with them I have always been satisfied. I just got a helluva deal on a brand new Katana through them and had what I consider perfect customer service.

Anyway, I guess it's two different ways to look at it, but it could be a chance to improve their business.

Ease up.
I'm flattered that you think my post will assassinate their reputation but um...ease up.

BTW- I have thought "5 or 6 times" about it. Which answers squeaks question. I keep trying to use their site to order stuff. but beyond the bite switch they have nothing I need.( at a minimum they don't have it easy to find)

I asked if anyone had the same problems and I told you why I think their website sucks.

Maybe they will see this and take it into consideration.

I see an EMAIL for "sales at square1.com"

but nowhere did I see the traditional "contact us"
info. If I had I would have left a suggestion.

so I will say again that SQUARE-1 consistently losses my business.

Damn... I spelled it incorrectly in two replies..[:/]

when I am at Eloy or Perris I have no problems with their customer service. Its their website that sucks.
If I were buying anything else online (sneakers, bubble gum, cameras etc) I would not deal with a company who has a crappy website.

that is their representation to people who do their research before buying. If I have to wrestle with search options, or ease of use..I go to the next site.

same goes for skydiving.
Edited for spelling....:S

You could just call them...

I heard they had started selling hawk-eyes, didn't see it on the website, called them..

&...

Ta-da!

Hawkeye ordered. (And happily received a short time later.)

true but I don't think they were open at 7pm PST.

I could be wrong but as I said it was easier to go to paragear and place the order there.
I was able to see what I was buying (even though I knew I needed the gold member)

The deal is that because their website isn't user-friendly I went to the competition.

Speaking of the missing "Contact Us" button...

They might be lovely individuals but their website certainly is primitive. Keeping up with every hip new fad in web design isn't necessarily a good business move but a nickle's worth of marketing savvy is! This site looks really dated -- like it was built in 1997 or maybe by someone who's 10 years behind the times.

21 buttons in the nav is horrible information architecture. To make it worse, half of them go to the second worst sin on the Internet: "Coming Soon." That JS submenu thing is really bad too!

The underlying code is bizarre and painfully written. There's 95kb of javascript and 32kb of css loaded with every page! What the hell? Over 500 styles??? Someone spent dozens of hours writing that unused crap -- and got paid big bucks for it I'm sure.

Where'd the Add to Cart button go on Mac Safari? Come on, guys -- it's not this hard!

Speaking of fads, the barely- (or is it non-) functional "Choose Skin" function is just strange. 237 pixels of banner graphic? Ouch!

Also, the fact that their e-commerce area has misspellings like:

Quote

[no image avaliable]

makes me think the company doesn't take their site seriously. You can bet the customers won't either.

I'm sure they're spending a FORTUNE on this site which is really sad -- and unnecessary. It's all going to non-functional code. Someone's got them snowed.

they probibly used front page or something like that. Not everyone is cool and uses notepad to edit raw HTML

No no no! square1.com's code is written by hand. That's part why it's so amazing. Someone sat down and hand wrote 500 styles! I handwrite all my code too, but that motivates me to keep it compact and efficient.

There are tens of thousands like this that were built by over-reaching computer nerds back when reasonably big companies thought a pocket protector qualified someone to design retail sites. "You talk in big words so make me some buttons while you're at it."

There are specific types of disaster website. This kind is sad because they were the most expensive for the client to get in to. I feel very sorry for square1. They're hosed until they decide to abandon ship and start over.

They lost my business when Keely Quit! It was never the same smart ass service!

Seriously, I have never hardly even looked at the webpage but Square 1's service in the store is first class. I would probably call them always instead of the webpage unless it was something trivial that I was ordering. If you tell them about a prob, I guarantee they will fix it.

But, I have never even been to another gear store so my opinion is not based on a vast knowledge of stores. I cant imagine any store being better than Square 1 (post Keely)

I think it's great for customers to publically air complaints AND compliments about a particular company and their products/service. If people only post the positive stuff, we end up with something like the dropzone ratings on here, where it's nearly useless because everyone says every DZ is "the best." That said, I've shopped at Square One several times (ordering by phone instead of online) and I've always been perfectly happy with the service I received.

Ya know, if a store does not carry an item, then the search function will not find it.
It does not mean the search function is broken.

apparently sunshine factory does not sell the gold member either.Crazy

Where is your thread bashing them?

A search on 'camera helmets' shows 11 matches on a single page.

All their contact info is on EVERY page - right at the top for easy viewing.

Well my search for "gold member" pulls up this:

Quote

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e14'

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near ')'.

D:\HOME\SQUARE1\MANUFACTURERS\SQUARE1\../../asp/sqlcxnclass.asp, line 150 Database Errors Occured in function: Class_Terminate
Error #: -2147217900
Error Description: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near ')'.

It also pulled up the staff page on a search for some odd reason. I'd say there are issue in the search.

Heck, even looking for "Infinity" results in:

Quote

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e14'

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near ')'.

D:\HOME\SQUARE1\MANUFACTURERS\SQUARE1\../../asp/sqlcxnclass.asp, line 150 Database Errors Occured in function: Class_Terminate
