skybytch 273 #1 March 27, 2007 I'm stuck. I have to give a 6-9 minute persuasive speech for a class and I can't decide what topic to speak on. The topic must have nothing at all to do with skydiving (not cuz the teacher said so but cuz I think that'd be too easy). I'd prefer that it be non-serious, which is why I'm asking here. Although it does need to be "appropriate for a college classroom" which is why I probably shouldn't have asked here. How about this one - "Why body language is not to be trusted in evaluating a speaker's veracity." I mean, you can act, givew examples, "Some men may view this action as a a woman being amused, when what it really means is 'I am laughing at you.'" Okay. Here are some other suggestiontopics: 1) Why "Brand X" beer is superior to all others. 2) Why there is no ethical or moral problem with blaming your fart on someone else. 3) Why revenge really is a dish better served cold; 4) Why College Professors should expand their understanding of student dilemmas by holding office hours in a bar. 5) Reasons why you should never encourage your son to get a private pilot's license. 6) Oooh - how to cast doubt upon body language as an indicator of the sincerity of a speaker. It's about how well you present a topic--any topic. It's perfectly fine if that topic is one that means something to you. In fact, I think it should. Those are the BEST speeches!
