HillerMyLife 0 #26 March 28, 2007 Its the closest rush there is next to combat...Thats why I started. I continue because its one of those unique skills where there is always room for improvement, often in many areas...The high is still there, but obviously not like it was for the very first time.Someday Never Comes

Lindercles 0 #28 March 28, 2007 Quotemy ol' lady called me out. i had been going on and on about it until one day she called me at work and said 'i am going skydiving saturday. you coming?' We should start a club for guys that had to be dragged into the sport by chicks. Of course, you and I may be the only two members. The only difference between your story and mine is that she had been begging me to do it for a while and I was being a total pussy and it took her offering to pay for me before I just didn't have any excuse not to anymore. fallinbear 0 #29 March 28, 2007 It also lets me to leave all the sh*t that I deal with on a daily basis where I can catch back up with it after my stress relief... (ON the ground). It is a continual challenge against myself: to fly my body better, to put my feet down EXACTLY where I want, to pack nice softies on heading every time, and also to see how much money I can spend at the DZ and still manage to eat for the rest of the week... I get to geek my buddies while flyin 150mph. I get the satisfaction of putting myself in a (relatively) dire situation and come out smelling like I normally do ...unless I happen to land in a cattle feedlot...which I never have.I love the friendships that have come into my life(and some unfortunately left too soon...) ....flashback..... uhhh....that skydiver bartender chick is cool....and she's trying to get me to come to the dropzone to do a tandem this weekend.... (Thanks again, Stacey!!!) the nightlife (on the DZ) after a full day of jumping with no incidents is better than any parties I've been tothe familiar rush of adrenaline after a great jump or a first. the all-too familiar rush of watching a close call or an incident that keeps me thinking about how fragile life is and how it can all end in a heartbeat....followed by the thought that we're all lucky to be part of something so cool and have the comradarie that we do.... I am happy to skydive. I am a better person because I skydive. I value life and friendships and love MORE because I skydive. If and when that changes...I will quit.I don't want to make all the decisions because if I screw up, then I can't blame it on you...

77r 0 #31 March 28, 2007 I love all of it. It's no doubt a special moment when my main opens. And I must say I get a kick out of the landings. That sensation of making the parachute rise and float, then you touch down like an angel - the times I'm not being run into the mud.

tbrown 26 #35 March 28, 2007 I just always wanted to do it all my life. Ever since I learned what a parachute was, when I was 5 or 6 years old, I knew I wanted to jump one. Everything else that came along kept pointing me in the same direction and reminding me how much I wanted it. Some people just gotta jump. Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity !
